Guest guest
Dear Sperb, I think, despite what the scales do or do not reveal, that we will all have to continue to make smarter eating choices (in addition to a structured exercise program) for the rest of our lives. While the choice to eat less will be assisted by our smaller stomachs, we still have to make choices. The surgery is a tool to do that. Just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Hey Sperb, that's a ditto from me on what Tarri just said. My buddy Zoey told me that way back in Oct. first time I met her. You got to take your old buddy food out of the center of your life!! He'll be missed for a while, but you can have new buddies, like shopping for smaller clothes, and dancing, and walking and meeting someone new in your life!! Deal? Guest guest
Tarri, Thanks for the input. You know, one of the reasons I chose the surgery was because I know I'm bad at dieting. So I was kind of hoping to be like a lot of the people who say they don't like those nasty old fattening foods any more. And how they're not hungry. And how they can't eat more than a tablespoon at a time. I was hoping I wouldn't have to rely on my own ability to diet because I've always been terrible at that. In spite of the surgery, it still comes down to diet and exercise. I'm not sure I'll be able to perform any better at this than I did before the surgery. Wish me luck. Guest guest
Sperbie, Listen maybe you should just try to eat until your new little belly is full... How much would that be? Could you eat as much as you did before the surgery?? I know I cannot eat but a teaspoon at a time, and then only about 1/2 cup of anything and I'm FULL. When I try to eat more, I'll get bad cramps, and dumping... Have you dumped at all from anything?? When I want something really bad I've got to admit, I try a bite. Things like meat feel like they get stuck in my throat, so even though it may taste good, it's not worth getting sick over.. The only thing is I usually feel like eating again in about 2 to 4 hours... another Tablespoon of this and that. But, the thing is I'm not eating near as much as I use to, even when I was dieting.. Still worried about 'cha... Trude (unknown) > Hi all-- > > I'm post-op as of 11/9. Guest guest
Trude, I'm sorry I'm complaining so much. I guess I refuse to pretend everything's peachy, but I also don't want to be a PITA (pain in the #ss)! Anyway, thanks for the reply. Re what you were saying, I think I tend to kind of munch all day. This morning I had maybe 6 oz of cheese potato soup (which I sipped on for about an hour because I was at my desk). Then someone brought in those Cookies&Cream " bites " covered in white chocolate. Well you know the doc didn't operate on my will power. And I had about a dozen of those over the day. I had some sugar free hot chocolate (only 50 calories!). I had part of one of those cup o' noodles. I had a chocolate macaroon. When I get home, I'll probably get munchy again, maybe around 10:00 p.m. And there you have it! I guess--since now I'm actually thinking about it--I think I'm just kind of eating all day. A little bit at a time, but kind of constant. I have thrown up when I tried to eat a piece of chicken too fast. I haven't had any serious dumping. You know, sometimes a get a little " gurgly " and maybe have to use the restroom, but nothing earthshaking (imagine being responsible for earthquakes on top of everything else!). I definitely don't think I can eat like I was before, but I still have sweet cravings and don't seem to be losing a lot. I know exercise is the next step, but I don't really trust myself to follow through. I do bowl twice a week--and we all know how many calories *that* burns up!!! Practically the same as a marathon, right? THE TRULY GOOD NEWS, and I am so happy about this, is that I am not as short of breath as I was before the surgery. I was just gasping with barely any exertion and now I feel like I can get a decent lung full. Anyhooo, thanks for letting me " talk your ear off " if such a thing is possible in e-mail. And, of course, my ears are yours, too. Love, Sperb >>> comic@... 11/29/00 08:17PM >>> Sperbie, Listen maybe you should just try to eat until your new little belly is full... How much would that be?
