We could help you if you would let us know what foods you are giving

your son. Are you doing any other treatment or combining SCD with

another diet?

What supplements are you giving?

Any store bought products?

All the best,

Mimi

My son does this when he isn't wearing his glasses. It is a depth perception

technique. Is your son wearing glasses? The diet may have altered his

prescription.

My son who has autism stims by wiggling his fingers in front of his face. He

does it more if he is uncomfortable, not feeling well, or upset. I don't know

if that would be related.

My ASD son does it for no apparent reason, kinda hums and bounces them a little.

He never does it related to anything, usually riding in the car or just walking

around the house or yard. I thought it may be some sort of visual stimming and

that maybe it was due to a vitamin A deficiency. After we started CLO (green

pastures) I thought it would stop but it hasn't. If you figure it out I'd LOVE

to know what makes it decrease.

I see a couple of things right off the bat without researching some of the

things you're giving him. The pear juice is not SCD legal. You can only use

the Knudsen juices that say Just Juice. For example, Just Black Cherry, Just

Cranberry, Just Concord Grape, and so on. If it is called something else, you

cannot use it. I'm not sure about the pear bars from Kirkman. They might not

be SCD legal, or they could have ingredients that he just can't tolerate right

now. Can you post the ingredients? The herbs de province are not legal either.

Herb or spice mixtures are not legal because they add starch to them. You can

use herbs and spices that come in a bottle with just that herb in them. This

expludes garlic powder, garlic salt, onion powder, onion salt, lemon pepper, and

things like that. But, things like cinamon, cumin, margarum, rosemary, ect.

that are just by themself in the bottle are fine. It also very well could be

too soon for any type of legumes like the beans.

Thanks for the info on pear juice & spices. Does anyone know a pear

juice that's legal? I just don't have time to use my juicer right now

- can anyone relate (ha, ha)! We aren't giving him dark colored juices

because of the phenol issue, and pineapples now seem to cause more

stimming, too (used to be OK when they were raw, behaviorally anyway).

Alison,

I believe that there is no pear juice that is legal but someone can correct me

if I am wrong. I am not sure if Knudsen might have one. It would have to be part

of the " Just Juice " line if there is any at all. This one is not legal because

of the pear concentrate.

I don't know about the pear concentrate in this. Sheila will have to make the

call on that.

There is no legal pear juice aside from making your own. I hadn't heard that

all of the dark colored juices have fennol issues. What about some of the less

sweet ones like cranberry or pomegranate? Knudsen makes a Just Juice for both

of those.

From a food salicylate (according to what I've read, a subgroup of

phenols - someone correct me if I'm wrong!) list I have, all berries,

incl. cranberries are very high in salicylates, and pomegranates are

high. Another short list I have lists all colored fruits as high

phenol foods. He seems to react to these, for example he can eat a few

bites of golden delicious apple, but not a red apple. Anyway, pears

don't seem to bother him.
