Guest guest
I have been reading the posts on the high yogurt temperatures. My Donvier yogurt maker also goes above 115 but not as high as 120. My machine was not designed to run for 24 hours continuously, the timer allows for 20 hours maximum. I simply reset it and add four hours to the current batch. I assume this could be one of the causes of the high temperatures. Another cause for the high temperatures, at least for my machine, is that the kitchen counter absorbs the heat from the machine and keeps the heat trapped under the Donvier. My solution is to put a metal rack from my toaster oven under the yogurt maker. This raises the yogurt maker off the counter and allows air to circulate under the machine. This brought the temperature of the yogurt down to 110 for this last batch. This may be a simple solution to lower the temperatures of some of the yogurt makers, but I know that many on SCD use a different barrel type maker that might not benefit from my idea.
