Guest guest
, Thanks for your reply. I do understand that sometimes we are tired and sick and too quick to read and interpret things the wrong way. I do it myself often enough. The disease is wearing enough without our disputing, which makes it worse. All I wanted to clarify was to clear the air on is what I really said. I understand your anger with the drug companies. I do feel that we are plagued with too much media promotion of new drugs on a daily basis, and often turn the tube to " mute " whenever I see a drug commercial appear. One night I counted 7 commercials during a program break, and 6 of them were for prescription meds! The ones I hate the most are those that mention a new prescription drug, tell people what it is for, and then tell the viewer to " call your doctor and ask for this " . Although I can't believe that a person would really do this, based on a TV commercial, I'm sure that many do, and it's as though they are self diagnosing themselves based on a TV commercial. I wish all this type of advertising for prescription drugs was banned, or just permitted on one channel, like the Health channel, so we all didn't have to see it every day. Whatever happened to those days when all you saw was an ad for Bayer aspirin or Pepto Bismol? And naturally, all this media advertising is what drives the cost of these medications up to astronomical levels, making it impossible to afford for people without insurance or those on a fixed income. It's a vicous cycle and I am as much opposed to it as I'm sure you are. So that is a pet peeve of mine. That, and the dozens of unsolicitated retail catalogs that are piled in my mailbox every week. Between the two of these, I don't know which is the worst ill use of money, IMHO, but I wish both would stop. Have a good night, and a better day ahead. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
