Guest guest
Dear List, I just heard from a SCD volunteer who is willing to download the Lyris list and put it on a website for all of you to access it. I am reposting a message that I wrote many months ago. At that time we failed to get enough money to save the list. However only about a hundred or so dollars remain to be payed. If we get 20 parents to pay $5 or 10 parents to pay $10 we can have this great resource!! Mimi --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ---------------------------------------------------- The SCD children's list, currently called " Pecanbread " was once named " Elaine's Children " and was carried by the Lyris Listserve.. We were very fortunate to have Elaine's personal participation for some time and received a treasure trove of her personal comments on a number of SCD questions which can still be accessed via the excellent Lyris search engine. We can still read Elaine's opinions regarding any topic without registering to the Lyris list. When we learned there were charges for every response to a post and had to migrate to our current Yahoo location for financial reasons, a generous member paid the accumulated bill in order that we might continue to have access to the Elaine's Children archives. Due to an oversight, unfortunately, no one payed the monthly dues which have accumulated for about two years. Someone had offered to pay but forgot to do it. We did not realize it until the list was shut down. The possibility exists for us to archive the list contents elsewhere and make it searchable. (If anyone wants to do this please notify us.) However, we still need to pay the existing bill in order for us to access the list in order to archive it. The list archives must be copied onto a safe website in case anyone ever accidentally deletes our current list or the Lyris list serve goes out of business. We will also want to keep the Elaine's Children List on its original list serve for documentary reasons; it is concrete testimony to the wonderful eficacy and safety of this amazing diet. Immediate help is urgently required to save this treasure. Please notify us if you can help. If 50 list members pay $10 then the list will be saved. We currently owe $482.38 (details below) . If you are willing to pay all or part of this bill, please email the Dundee list serve and pay. Every penny will help. Pay with credit card: The phone number is Tell or Pat that you are paying for the Elaine's Children list. Thank you very much for your help to save Elaine's voice. ==================================================================== Copy of part of the bill that we received from Dundee. Description Qty. Guest guest
It is soo hard to get people to pitch in. When we moved the list over I ended up forking out the $20, I think that 1 person offered to help. Like you said, if people only sent in at least $1.00 it would already soo help. I am a web developer. I would love to build a website for health- related group, where they could have forums, save files, exchange info, post events, have real-time discussions, private messaging, etc.. I would make it a real good place. Of course being sick has kind of drained most of us financially, but sadly running these things takes time, and money. I would love to run such a site, but I doubt anyone would want to pay, OR even have ads of course.. <sigh> Good luck with the fund-raising. I have no credit cards anymore, so how else can I help? Guest guest
Hi Gerard, We need a webmaster for pecanbread and the new website where I am creating for SCD research. Here is my new website: www.microbialinfluence.com We already moved our list 4 times. We found out that parents want to remain on Yahoo. Please do remain involved with pecanbread. We need volunteers to help us. What kind of help are you willing to give us? All the best, Mimi > It is soo hard to get people to pitch in.
