Guest guest
All, sorry I was offline or I would have gotten this sooner. The reason for an acid reducer with enzymes (particularly non-enteric coated ones) is for two reasons. The first is that they want don't want the enzymes to be fully digested in the stomach, so they need to reduce the acid content in the stomach (they are tablets, not capsules). Also, they need to have the acid reducer with the enzymes because they found that this combination can sometimes lessen the pain from the pancreas because it stops the hormone sent from the stomach to the pancreas requesting enzymes being made when food is in the stomach. Unfortunately, this doesn't work in everyone and seems to work best in young women from ages early twenties to somewhere around mid forties (I think, I don't remember the actual ages given). I wish I had asked my doctor who told me this for the reference papers on it but I didn't and I no longer see him. I am one of those people who have lessened pain with this combination. If I stop taking one or both, the pain in my abdomen increases alot(I know this because I stopped taking them just to see if they were helping. They were) and it's bad enough already when I do take them. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
