Guest guest
My father was diagnosed with lupus in his mid-50's. Rather rare to find in a man his age as it is usually found in women in thier mid- 20's. It was one of the first things they checked for when I started getting sick a few years ago. The immuno assay was negative as my panreatitis was from a ductal deformity but I was told to have rhuematoid arthritis. I do believe now that was an error. There has been a great deal of thoughts of late on the connection between diseases and the immuno response, inflammatory response, that is fascinating. We inherit our immune system from our parents much as we inherit our eye or hair color. Ie: I am not allergic to poison ivy and neither was my father, an odd thing to inherit but made all those childhood camping trips far more pleasant...LOL I am doing ok, this hernia has gotten larger and extends to the other side of my incision even tho I am taking it very easily. It really hurts and I have been taking a lot of pain meds again. Thought I was through with all that. The nausea and reflux has me a bit bothered so it is obviously doing a number on my intestinal motility and digestion. The surgery is still planned for the 9th and I am waiting to hear from the plastic surgeon as I should see him prior to for an exam. emailed me a bit ago saying that he had spoken with the surgeon and it may be done without any kind of meshing, alloderm, at all. He said they may be able to use my own muscles and tissues, sounds more painful but should be better in the long run, I think. I am just so tired of not feeling well. Seems like as soon as I got my strength back from the total along came this stupid thing. Of course I have all of life's other mini tragedies to deal with and sometimes times feels like life is just chipping away at my very core. Trying to zap me of my inner strenght and determination. I have been rather depressed lately and really could use some good news for a change. At least the weather has been lovely and I can enjoy my spring blossoms and watching all the migratory birds as they travel back up north. We are very fortunate in that area here. I'll be ok. Keep me posted on how things go with your testing and such. it is very interesting. Warmly,
