Guest guest
Hi all: Just a quick question to see if I am being paranoid or not! My doc wants to refer me to a pain management doc who has been in four different states in FIVE years! My doc knows nothing about him, just picking him out of the book as one who is on my insurance. I am not going. Do you all think I am being paranoid? I got some of his literature in the mail and I don't like any of it. Especially since the guy is a very good drive away and he states that you must come EVERY SINGLE WEEK! Now what happens when you have meds in your system and cannot drive? Plus paying a co pay every week is baloney. I still have a PM doc who is a total idiot but I don't have a choice. I am the one trying to be legit here and the PM docs as I have seen them so far are quacks. My current PM doc has down he is treating me for low back pain and neuritis in the neck area! HE is doing no such thing! He never examines or even comes in teh room for that matter. The PAs have questioned why he has down low back pain and neuralgia. I haven't challenged it because of the lack of pain management docs. My doc told me to ask him for something for break through pain. Well I asked him when I went last month and he threw a fit and said " if your doc wants to manage your pain let him do it, but I am not giving you anything else! " He doesn't even give me a 90 day supply every 90 days. He gives me 60 doses. Most of the time that is ok. I have run out twice and wound up in the hospital just because of running out. How easily that could be avoided. The hospital for me is a disaster with blood clots from midline PICC lines, etc. As most of you know I cannot have any kind of line, PICC, PORT, Broviac, etc that goes down to the heart so they have started putting in PICC lines that end at the shoulder. They go bad very easily. Actually I called the medical board and asked about this doctors practice of putting down wrong diagnoses and not examining patients. The investigator told me if that was the truth (why wouldn't it be) then he would be in a lot of trouble and they would investigate the whole practice. I am leary even reporting him if I leave that practice because my hubby works for the hospital and that could cause him a ton of trouble if this idiot wanted to including losing his job. Went back to my primary doc and he said he " doesn't feel comfortable " with managing pain. Haven't we all heard that before. That is why he wants to send me to a new pain doc. He did give me 30 pills of Oxy-IR to last until I can see someone but I have to tell the PM doc that when I go back in June. He iwll probably dump me then. Also, this new doc he wants to send me to states right on his literature that his goal is to send you back to your own doc for him to manage your pain. I am sick of this crap. Also this " new doc " has only been a doc for eight years and is 57 years old. He use to be an Electrical Engineer for crying out loud. I know folks change professions but this is ridiculous. I wish there were a doc who only treated or specialized in treating the chronic pain of pancreatitis. Most of these docs don't even know what it is. I am going to have them get me on the list for a doc who is not taking new patients but will put you on a waiting list. That could be forever, but might as well get on the list. I feel like I have gone back 8 years in time since this first started. According to the dates, this guy graduated from his residency about the time I got sick with pancreatitis! Forget it.
