Deb, you could ask about Fentanyl Suckers (Actiq), they work well for

breakthrough pain. Over here they are usually only prescribed for

cancer patients on chemo, but my insurance finally approved them for

me when I told my case manager, that because of the nausea, it was

impossible for me to keep down pain meds orally.

Ask also if they have any requirements if you have to go to hospital

for pain even though you are under their care. One of my doctors told

me that some patients had been fired by their pain specialists because

they sought pain meds in the ER for bad attacks. I asked my pain

specialist if this was the case with them when I was with one, but

they said they didn't mind as long as I let them know that I was in

hospital and what meds I was being given whilst in there.
