Guest guest
This is our first week on the diet and my twin three year old boys have very dark semi-formed stools. Has anyone else had this problem? They have been eating lots of eggs and drinking lots of diluted grape juice. I am a little concerned about too much iron. Please let me know if you have seen this too or can comment on it. The boys are doing well on the diet. Eye contact improved dramatically within two days and their green runny noses (they have been running for months now) are gone. Dissapeared after the first day of diet!! They have been diagnosed with a regressive autism as they were developing normally until a few months ago. They were diagnosed at their preschool by ASD assessment specialists. We are just awaiting the return of our family dr so we can get her to do a referal to a pediatrician who then can refer us to an ASD clinic. Crazy system that takes so long to get what you need. I hope we have intervened in time with this diet. Does anyone have success stories about this diet? Do you have any other suggestions for us. We are not supplementing as of yet, although I do have injectable Vitamin b and am tempted to give it to them but I am afraid to do more without a drs knowledge. I am so anxious to help them. Any advice or support would be most appreciated.
Guest guest
Don't be alarmed with the stool changes. You may see all kinds of stuff from different colors to white stuff in the stools and who knows what else. Their bodies are just going through lots of changes with cleaning out their guts. If you want to begin supplements, there are certainly a few that you can do with no worry. You'll want to get an SCD legal multivitamin. There are a couple of different companies that make them. Freida is one, and Kirkman is another. There may be more as well. You'll just want to make sure that it has no illegal ingredients in it. You can also begin giving them a cod liver oil. Green Pastures makes a high dose, high quality cod liver oil that people like. Also, a good source of omega fatty acids is a good idea. You can use Nordic Naturals Complete Omega liquid, or Omega 3, 6, 9 liquid. I'd start with a teaspoon per day of each of the oils. What about a probiotic? You really need to be replacing that space in their guts where the bad flora is vacating with good flora. You want an acidopholus supplement. Just acidopholus, and no other strains. I'm glad to hear you've already seen good changes with them in such a short amount of time. If you want a doctor that can give you more guidance, you're going to want what we call a DAN(defeat autism now) doctor. You can google " DAN physicians " , and you should be able to find a list easily enough of DAN physicians. Also, you can ask who other people either use, or know have an excellent reputation. Let us help you in any way we can. Meleah NEWBIE! Guest guest
Hi toyz4my4boyz, I also wanted to ask is the stool black or just a dark brown color? Guest guest
Hi The stool is grey / blackish. I thought it may be the grapejuice. (it is not from concentrate, and I dilute it one quarter juice to three quarters water) They have been very thirsty on this diet and have eaten so much too. They have been eating mostly eggs, some chicken and beef. I have mixed apple puree with the eggs and they eat that too. Do you think the juice is causing the stool color? I guess I can drink it myself and see what happens. Thanks for your help, Cindy PS I am the mom of four boys 12,11, 3.6 years and 3.6 years (corrected age) 11 year old was born with TGA (cardiac deformity now corrected) but has also suffered with unexplained bacterial and yeast infections and chronic fatigue (non cardiac related) 12 year old had failure to thrive at 9 months. I was living in Japan at the time and his grandma came to help get him well. Her instinct was to make him a garlic soup with vegetables and give him the broth in his bottle. Got rid of the milk and infant formulas. On grandma's homemade formula he smelled of garlic but boy he perked up and started thriving! So healthy and clever and very athletic. Now I just need to get my twins healthy and I have started my 11 year old on the diet to get him healthy too. Its a lot of work but there is no rest when your kids are getting sick and no one can help. I think this diet is the key. Thanks again for your help, Cindy > > Hi toyz4my4boyz, > > I also wanted to ask is the stool black or just a dark brown color? > > Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs > mom of and > > > > > This is our first week on the diet and my twin three year old boys > > have very dark semi-formed stools. >

It can be an indication of the changing microbe populations in the body. Some people see green stools, some see orange - sometimes it depends on what is being eaten. Although drinking the juice is not a bad idea it may not reflect what is happening with your children. If they have reduced absorption they may not be digesting the natural colors in the juice and it could be reflected in the color of their stools. If your absorption is better than theirs your stools may not turn grey. If the stools are black and tarry that may indicate something else.
