Guest guest
I thought it would be proper to introduce myself. I ordered BTVC from amazon, and it's not here yet. But from what I've read, being part of an online group is a good idea, so I went ahead and found you all! My story/ our family: I am a 41 y/o mom diagnosed with UC about 2 years ago. And of course on pred and Asacol and can't get off the pred and now having to look at other (stronger) options, all of which scare me to death and I have to find another way. Youngest son (7) is autistic, and also has asthma and eczema. (like the poster child for this diet, I'm guessing) He's a very picky eater so I am going to be in for a huge challenge. I know, his gut is craving the things that are the worst for him. But it's pretty typical, he would live off of cheese sandwiches, mac & cheese, and crackers. Oldest son (9) is ADHD. Husband is just a pain in the rear, and in the past has not been supportive of my attempts to modify our diet-- I've tried GFCF before, and Feingold. Ironically, he also works for a food manufacturer that I'm pretty sure doesn't make one single thing you could eat on this diet. So much for the company store, LOL. I'm fairly undomestic, at the moment my biggest " oh no " is making yogurt, which I know isn't a biggie but still... So, anyway, my plan is to start myself on this for a couple of weeks, then integrate the kids. They will be out of school the end of May and I'll be able to control their food better. Looking forward to reading, and any info you all can give me, I'd appreciate.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group. It sounds like your family could sure benefit from SCD although I'm sure that isn't good company press for your husband. Well, my husband doesn't work for a food company, but we just tell people it is due to allergies for our son. It's just the easiest way to explain it. For yourself, it should be easy enough to say that it is due to your newly diagnosed disease, and allergies for the kids should suffice. That should help his position from a job stand point anyway. Don't worry. The yogurt isn't hard at all. Just get a yogurt maker, and all will be a breeze. Just follow the instructions exactly, and it will turn out fine. Ask lots of questions. We don't mind. Don't ever be concerned to ask any questions at all. You won't bother anyone or anything. This is an awesome group filled with very knowledgeable people. I think it will be good for you to acquaint yourself with SCD, and get yourself going before beginning the children since you say you're not very domestic. It certainly will be easier to make their transition during the summer as well. Again, welcome. Meleah new & HI! I thought it would be proper to introduce myself.
