Guest guest
Hi again, When cooking kebabs the original way you just put salt ,nothing else.We mostly do pork and chicken, just meat on skrewers. It is served with salad in pitta bread(we are not eating pitta bread for a long time so we will not miss it).If you want you can marinate overnight in a bowl with lemon juice, salt ,olive oil and dried oregano. If you want to add veggies I guess you can use anything really but what we use here is just green peppers ,onions and maybe tomatoes. There is something else we cook on bbq which is really yummy called sheftalia,it's a meatball sort of thing that is wrapped in something you get from goats intestines I think.I don't know the name in english though,I'll try to find out. In the meantime I have some questions . While doing the intro you are not allowed to use any lemon on meats? My son has constipation and I found out that we only have to do intro for 2 days(thank god),but after that adding apples and bananas I think is not going to help,is there some other fruits I can add that are not as constipating as those two? And something else. What do you send to school in kids lunchbox? This is the major reason why Iam not starting the diet right now, since what the kids have for breakfast at my sons school is corn flakes, jellysandwich, cheese sandwich and some pie or bagel type of thing. So far I was trying to make him similar foods that were gfcfsf so he did't feel he was getting any different food but now it's going to be a huge problem as all food is provided by the school and is stantard and my son was the only one on a special diet.I hope you can give me some ideas.I thought I wait to start with the intro when school ends but what happens when he goes back to school ? Thanks for any ideas you might have. Antonitsa robin Ýãñáøå: Yes, this is all legal, and sounds really, really good. This isn't something you'll want to start out with right away after the intro diet though because you're going to need to check each of the main ingredients separately to see if they are tolerated. For example, cooked zucchini is one of the easiest to digest in the ingredient list. Tomatos are tolerated somewhat soon after intro by a fair amount of people if cook. Pork would be legal right after intro diet, and the grape leaves are probably similar to using spinach. The salt, pepper, lemon juice, and olive oil should be fine. You'll again just want to watch for reactions. For our family, we should be able to make this recipe with no digestive issues. Don't forget that your fruits and vegetables should all be pealed, seeded, and well cooked for several months after beginning SCD, so your delicious salad will be out of the diet for a while. We actually love to make salad just like you talked about. My family loves fetta cheese. We put it on salad, in eggs, making a dip for fresh vegetables, ect. I will ask my friend where she buys her grape leaves, and try this very soon. Feel free to share any other recipes. Oh yes, and what kind of kabobs do you make for the yogurt/cucumber dip? Is there a marinade for the kabobs? What type of meat and vegetables do you put on the scewer? Thanks so much. This will also be really fun for our family with summer now here. Meleah Re: NEW .TRYING TO GET STARTED.PROBLEMS/MIMI Hi Mimi, - Here in Cyprus we don't have the soup that you 've mentioned but we have a dip made of yogurt and cucumber that you can eat with kebabs and that is one of all kids favourite food. It's actually on any grilled meat and burger. If you don't know how to make it here is the recipe.I think all ingredients are scd legal but you can always omit the ones that are not. - Put in a bowl the desired amount of yogurt ,peel 1-2 cucumbers shred and drain.Add dried mint and blend with fork to make rally smooth. This is the basic recipe but I also put a crushed garlic glove maybe 2 (I love garlic),pinch of salt, some olive oil(a spoonfull or two) and afew drops of vinegar. - Something else I tried with my son and he'll eat it any timeI give it is stuffed vine leaves.I don't know if those are legal (tell if it's not) but you can always make it with cabbage or you can stuff tomatoes, zuccini, onions and peppers. The original recipe requires rice but I've changed it with shredded zuccini and my son just loved it.I think this recipe is great for kids as these are little wraps (like spring rolls, but baked in the oven)and you can easily pack it for lunch box or a picnic. Also these are perfect with the yogurt dip which is called tzatziki.I think all recipes can be done scd legal if someone takes the time to try different ingredients.I can think of keftedes(cyprus meatballswhich I tried and they were as good as the original ones, mousakka and many others that I have to find time to experiment with) Anyway I 'll start officially mid June when my son school ends and we;ll see how it goes. In the meantime if you want me to send any local recipes I try just to check if they are scd legal and if you find them interesting to try I'll be more than happy to do so. Guest guest
Hi, I don't know if you have visited the Pecanbread website, http://www.pecanbread.com/new/scdfoods1.html, it has a list of stages that suggests introducing foods. It is not " set in stone " , but just a guideline. The site also has so much great information about the diet... Hope this helps, Belle Antonitsa u wrote: Hi again, When cooking kebabs the original way you just put salt ,nothing else.We mostly do pork and chicken, just meat on skrewers.
