Guest guest
My son is very sensitive to eggs, but it makes baking quite a challenge. I wonder if you who have successfully added eggs back in have any advice. I know it's different for everyone, but about how long should I wait before giving them a try again? I thought I would skip a couple of steps and go straight to range free and using only whites as that appears to be more tolerable to people. Guest guest
When my son tested possitive for egg allergy via a standard blood test he was a 2 on a scale of 0-4(0 being no reaction, and 4 being never, ever eat this or you'll die). The allergist told me that he would most likely outgrow the allergy if we avoided eggs, but would probably be severely allergic if we continue to give them to him. He suggested a year. I pulled them out for a little less than six months, and reintroduced them with no issues. I haven't had him retested although I think I will just to see if the test now shows a 0 reaction as well. He had been egg free for almost six months, and SCD for a little over four months. I think the SCD had more to do with it than the egg free because it allowed a whole lot more gut healing. What kind of reaction do you see when he eats eggs? You could always try doing the free range or just egg whites. I will say that our allergist said that he never recommends just doing the egg white because it is technically still contaminated by the yolk since it touches the yolk. We just avoided any baked goods during that time as I found it difficult to get an SCD egg substitute to turn outfor me. It made things a bit more boring, but he really didn't mind unless we were out from the house, and our friends were having things that I couldn't even come close to mimmicking because it was something that needed eggs. Guest guest
Hmmm. My son was a three on the scale of 1-4. In the beginning of SCD when I began to look into all this he reacted with neurological symptoms-involuntary arm movements and restless sleep. I tried duck eggs instead, but that gave him diarrhea. The problem is he keeps having die-off and vomiting. Once he's vomited a certain food, he won't eat it again. I can't really blame him, but he has a big yeast issue so he's not getting any fruit, now he scarcely wants to eat meat. The only way to get him to eat veggies is in some sort of " baked good " It's getting rather tricky. But it sounds like eggs ought to wait quite a while longer. If you have any great fruit free, egg free recipes, send 'em my way. Teena
