Guest guest
Hi , I know how you feel about the TP/ICT. I felt the same way before I had mine. I couldn't make up my mind. It is a big decision. I had mine done on Sept. 24th, 2004 with Dr. Sutherland. For me it was the best thing I could have done. The surgery wasn't easy but I would do it all over again if I had to. I am now diabetic but would rather be diabetic than to go through all that pain I used to have. I don't know how I made it for 2 1/2 years suffering. I wish I would have went in sooner then I might have had more islet cells to transplant. I started back to work 1/2 days 6 weeks after my surgery and at 8 weeks I was back full-time again. I feel great now and have no pain! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime. Take care!! Darren
Guest guest
, my procedure went well. The surgery was 10 hours long. When I came to I was in terrible pain but then they got it under control. I was in ICU for 2 days and then in a regular room for 14 more days. Dr. Sutherland is awesome. He is the best doctor I have ever had and I have had a lot of them! He is so understanding and talks to you in regular terms. You will like him a lot. If you have any problems with the staff or anything else just tell him and he will take care of it immediately. I had a problem with a nurse telling me I was using too much dillaudid and was to cut way down. I tried to but I couldn't handle the pain. I told Dr. Sutherland and he told me to use whatever amount I needed to be comfortable and I never saw that nurse again. I would think you would be able to go back to school at the end of August but remember everyone is different. You won't be able to do any lifting for 8 weeks or so. It took me about 10-12 weeks to be mostly pain free. Each week seemed to get better. Now I only take pancrease enzymes with meals and unsulin for diabetes. It is great to be pain free again! Hope you are hanging in there!! Darren
