Guest guest
I like to find some herbal teas which are legal. Are there any? My daughter has problems with acidic drinks. Green tea would be fine I believe. Is there anything else? Thanks.
Guest guest
Dear foodchallenged, The only legal teas allowed are peppermint, spearmint and black teas. Green tea is allowed but limited to 2 cups a day. You can also make your own ginger tea with grated ginger and boiling water. Charlene <>< I like to find some herbal teas which are legal. Guest guest
Is there a way to make cinnamon tea? I was thinking of putting a cinnamon stick in black tea, or maybe just sprinkling some ground cinnamon in it. Would that be okay to do? I also have made sun tea with green tea and put a bag of peppermint in with it. That is good. -- Re: Drinks other than fruit juice Dear foodchallenged, The only legal teas allowed are peppermint, spearmint and black teas. Green tea is allowed but limited to 2 cups a day. Guest guest
I don't think green tea is SCD legal. Guest guest
We use English Breakfast Tea by Twinings (decaf or regular). It's a black tea with a very good flavor. We make iced tea sweetened with hone with it, and hot tea. Becky Re: Drinks other than fruit juice Dear foodchallenged, The only legal teas allowed are peppermint, spearmint and black teas. Since it will be concentrated only start with 1 cup/day at first to see how your body reacts. Here's a tea recipe I put together. I don't normally measure when I make chai tea, so I am approximating the amounts: Sheila's Homemade SCD chai tea: For one: 1 cinnamon stick 1/2 teaspoon fresh grated (peeled ) ginger 1/4 tsp allspice 1/8 tsp nutmeg 1 whole clove 3 small cardamon seeds 1 tea bag (black tea) Combine all ingredients except tea bag in a small pot. Add1-1.5 C water. Bring water to a boil and simmer on low for 5 minutes. Pour tea through a strainer into mug and tea bag and steep a short while for weak tea. Remove tea bag. Saccharine or honey can be added for sweetness and a little homemade coconut milk if desired. Guest guest
Hi Meleah, Green Tea is legal. 1-2 cups of weak green tea/ day is the maximum. Green tea may be problematic for those just starting the diet so try it cautiously. I now ocassionally have green tea but started the diet drinking only weak black and orange pekoe and lots of mint tea. Guest guest
Sheila, If I wanted to substitute powdered ginger in this, would the measurement still be the same? If you don't have a grater, just peel some and then chop it as small as possible - like chopping garlic. The fresh is very strong tasting, but really worth the extra work. Just don't do what I did years ago. I tried putting ginger root through my garlic press - it broke the garlic press.
