Guest guest
Felicity, Hi, I was just reading through the posts and noticed yours, about a possible connection between the pancreatitis and celiac disease. I too have celiac disease and have had pancreatitis since my gallbladder surgery in 1998. I was just recently to a couple of doctor appts. with my mother to have her blood work checked out for celiac too. Although she found that she does NOT have active celiac disease, she DOES carry the gene for it and so do both of my kids. We also recently found out the she had a high ANA level, which pointed to some sort of auto-immune disease. With further testing, we have discovered that she is positive for Anti-cardiolipin antibodies, and for Lupus, and for Sjogrens symdrome, (all 3 are auto-immune diseases)!! So with her new diagnoses (which explained her muscle pain, etc.), we are discovering that auto-immune diseases are running in the family. My mother, myself and my first cousin all have auto-immune diseases. Funny that my mother has the same one that my cousin has. I was tested for Lupus and the anti- cardiolipin antibodies a few years back when I ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in my leg. Both tests were negative at the time. So I will test again in the future, just to keep an eye on things. Please let me know if you dig up any good info on the auto-immune pancreatitis. I have always wondered if there was a certain blood test for that?? Has your doc told you of any such test yet? Thanks Kris in TN
