Guest guest
Hi Debs, What came to mind this morning for the doll was one like those old troll dolls that was such a big thing when I was a kid. You know, short body, grimacing face and wild hair of various colors. I am thinking that we could make it with a soft body though (the old ones were out of plastic) so the needles penetrate deeply and often! We could put scrubs on it with the logo PAIN and include some toy needles for doing the dirty deed....... I think that this is too funny! Although in a serious note....a PAIN bear would be a good logo too for the organization. Kinda like the care bear idea. The PAI would stand for the organization and the N would have to be something positive to show the pro-active role the organization takes towards education and support. I suppose the N could be for networking. So the PAIN bear could be Pancreatitis Association International Network bear. With a little pancreas shaped logo with PAI stitched on it. Cute I think! The chart too, will be enlightening - like you said. We can call it the hall of fame for DINKs (to borrow the phrase from that other board). Actually another name for the doll could be DINK - that would be very appropriate too! NZ sounds so beautiful - the area that you are in would be paradise to me. I am a farm country girl (dairy and sod) and being in the middle of nowhere is my dream! Especially with animals as the perfect companions. I haven't seen any of those LOR movies but my husband has and I know that he would love love to see that part of the world (me too!!). We have 12 years, 4 months and 4 days until retirement...so maybe someday we really can hop on a boat and sail around the world. Good news too that you are bringing a big strong male advocate with you to the appointment. I have found that when there is a male present that doctors tend to spend more time explaining things and are much more polite. This shouldn't be but I guess we are still in a very sexist world. In some ways I find that female doctors are almost worst at this than male doctors.....maybe they feel superior because they have survived in a male dominated world or something and those of us who are " typical " women are lacking brains or determination. Who knows? And males can be intimidating like you said....... I hope " mengeleman " behaves for you so Col doesn't have to apply behaviour modification!
