Guest guest
Hello everyone! My neighbor's son has eczema and even though I have told her repeteadly about SCD, I haven't made a believer out of her yet. The dermatologist told her that eczema is caused by bacteria and that the medication will simply do the job. If you have had any experience or literature about the conection between eczema and diet, could you please be so kind and forward it to me so I can share it with her? Thanks, Ximena Webster wrote: For my son its not acidic foods, but milk and high mold counts that make his flare up the most. MB12 shots completely got rid of his eczema. but before the MB12 shots Cod Liver Oil and GLA (in borage oil) was the mixture I was giving him and it helped. Guest guest
http://www.drgreene.org/body.cfm?id=21&action=detail&ref=982 An elegant little study in Finland, published in the July 2002 issue of Gut, looked at babies with severe eczema – and their stools. Stools are teeming with bacteria, some beneficial, some neutral, and some that are not our friends. In this study, as levels of E. coli and bacteroides bacteria in the stool went up, so did IgE antibodies in the blood (evidence of allergy), and eczema on the skin. When these babies were weaned, half got hypoallergenic formula and the other half got hypoallergenic formula with beneficial bacteria blended in (like in yogurt or acidophilus milk). Those that got the beneficial bacteria decreased their levels of E coli and bacteroides in their stools, the IgE in their blood, and the eczema on their skin. We are healthiest when our internal ecosystem is healthy. Here is the original research article: http://gut.bmj.com/cgi/content/abstract/51/1/51 Aberrant composition of gut microbiota of allergic infants: a target of bifidobacterial therapy at weaning? Guest guest
I had eczema on my elbows for the past couple of years. It had gradually gotten to the point of being painful to shower. I went on SCD in Feb '07 with my daughter. My eczema is now gone--no other treatment--just SCD. White SCD 02/
Guest guest
I am not sure of any literature, but youcan share my experience with her that I noted below. We tried creams for years and nothing worked. Nothing until I took all milk away --that helped... but we still had flares. Once we started the Cod liver oil, too it got better. But it was the MB12 shots that made it go away for good --and along that thinking, perhaps further diet changes like SCD (we are not there yet) may help better than the MB12 shots. --also, my little one, interestingly, Blue berries was one of the things that caused his (ah! and other citrus foods --to the person who mentioned acidy food, I forgot about that!) but the noni juice (which contained small amounts of blueberry made his eczema go away and I did several experiments to make sure that is what made it go away. --and speaking of Noni, I looked into it, and the fruit itself is a polysaccharide. > Hello everyone! > My neighbor's son has eczema and even though I have told her repeteadly about SCD, I haven't made a believer out of her yet. Guest guest
Thank you for all your responses. My eczema went away after cutting out dairy, corn, gluten, nightshades and caffein. I still have a big problem with candida and not being able to tolerate most foods. My daughter got her eczema when she turned 3. Now half a year later it is getting worse and worse. We are on SCD for only 10 days now. Maybe it is going to help in the long term. I find it interesting that my daughter has the same problems I had at her age. Eczema, low weight, respiratory problems. We also both tested positiv for gluten sensitivity antibodies and a genetic link for celiac disease. However, whenever we took standard blood tests for celiac disease they all came back negative. Hashimoto's also runs in the family. (ant's from both sides) My brother and cousin also have eczema badly. All this strongly makes me believe in a genetic link to all this. I also wonder whether Candida is passed on during birth. I think I had it all my life. My daughter as well. I nursed her for 15 months but that did not seem to have helped eighter. > > > Does anyone eat less acidic foods during SCD to cope with ezcema? > > > Can you give me some advice to what you are eating?
