Hi

I saw the Pain Management guy today, he said that my pain is caused

by " wind up " and referred me to look up central sensitization pain

memory

I asked him why does it get worse when eating lying down etc at end

of day and why did epidural work etc especially when it was placed

in wrong way and as col said I had no way of knowing and then

repositioned it overcame pain etc. This has happened twice after

many weeks in hospital

He said upper Gi isnt causing my pain. and that morphine, etc local

anesthtic, etc has no impact on my pain Col asked then what will

happen to the only treatment I have right now, he said that it will

continue I said what happens if I end up in acute will they treat me

like they have or will i recive no treament etc he said no will

treat same

options he gave me epidural blind tests, then maybe a trial catheter

and electric shock treament :((((((((((( I was in tears

Deb,

go visit your brother now in Australia, and if you have bad pain, get

to the hospital where those 2 doctors are that Chrissy mentioned. Just

go to the ER...

That way there is no previous treatment plans, and you would be

covered by medicare. I'd get your brother to double check, or if he

has already, and you can be covered by arranging treatment in

Australia before leaving NZ, then do it.

I can't understand how he can say Morphine won't help your pain, if it

already is..and if electric shock treatment is offered as an option to

me, I'd be running to the hills, unless I was mentally needing it.

Debs,

So he's saying that you have Fibromyalgia? That's what " the wind up "

with central sensitization pain memory relates to.

Here are two interesting articles that discuss this:

http://www.fmaware.org/doctor/bennettpain.htm

http://www.fmpartnership.org/Staud2002.htm

Not saying that I agree with this assessment, but that's what he's

referring to. Fibromylagia's no piece of cake, either. Those

patients need narcotic help all the time to handle their pain.

With love, hope and prayers,

Debs,

please, please, find someone else to help you, even if you have to go to

Australia to get proper treatment. This man seems determined to

experiment on you. I can't believe he actually said he'd do electric

shock treatments on you. That's barbaric. I am sooo worried about you.

Thanks

I have posted back just another reply as well just before this one.

I am going to run for the hills, and my mum is going to run with me.

She has got information tha the tests he has done should not have

been done without consents and the pain clinic here would never not

tell pepople what drugs they ar eusing. They have questioned his

ethics, and asked if he was a foreign doctor which he is. That was

there question notmine.

They have said to escalate it to the top of the pain team he is in

take an advocate and then if I want travel to the other city to see

them :))))

It really felt like he was tryign to make me out to be a psych prob,

and that i was like overly sensnitve to pain. . I have continued to

have the same pain in the same location in my left through to my back

I have to now question whether he would have even tried this with a

guy.

I went along with this as this was the only option he gave ,me to

treat my pain. I asked him this week what his pain plans were? what

his tests showed? repeated that I didnt want to lose what quality of

life I had and tha the current morphine helps with my pain, and why

if he was spinning me this line would it work when it does and

continues to do?

why have the epidurals worked in that pasT? why do I get pain on

eating? lyign down etc

I feel like an idiot, but I will do anything to try and stop this

pain, that is what has made me so vilnerable, I just havent had 1

day without it even with the meds. I just want help and in return I

have felt like a guinea pig

he wants to insert epidurals now each Friday to test a drug each

time, he wont leave a catheter in which I said would work better as

then I could see how it works over a week etc rather then for 2

hours in a morning. he said he wouldnt be using xray to put it in

and I had a 1 percent chance of being paralysed.

It again was like a catch 22 eg got you here now this is your only

option now you will do this test, hes in control, he even now has my

partner concvinced that I can control my pain! and that I have wind

up

He said I dont have gastro problems, i said my specialist said I

have its on my file, he said no i have tested the nerves you do not

I also said that here in NZ there are no pet scans, no EUS, and that

I pancreatits can take many years to get a confirmed diagnosis.

I went o get help to reduce my pain meds to try neurontin, maybe a

pain pump , all I did was ask for help and now I feel like I am

worse then I was with no options should I get an acute flare

I thank you for your help

I have written a couple of posts above

I am running for the hills, and will see the head of the pain team, I

am not goign to have epidurals blind tests done every friday or

electric shock treatment.

My Mum is helping me and will come with me and if necessary I can now

get a referral to another city, and they have said that they have seen

this from other foreign doctors and it is unetical doing procedures

and not getting consent or tellign the patient what drugs or tests you

are doing

thanks Kimber

Debs,

You aren't going to do any of this, are you? There's no reason why you

should and whatever he has planned for you, you can cancel. If it were me, I

wouldn't let this man ever touch me again! It IS NOT your only option, he's

only trying to bully you into doing what he wants to do.

Take your mum with you if you have to go see Dr. Dangerous again. And if

Colin believes the doctor now, kick him in the #&**$ for me, will ya? Remind

him how long he's been with you and how many times he's seen you in pain -

he'll change his tune when he stops to think about it.

With love, hope and prayers,
