Guest guest
ah well the wells of information must be dry ;o0 i use the twinlab maxilife rice tocotrienols and pierce the capsule and squeeze a drop out and only swallow that..........it may be possible that the pierced capsule keeps ok in the fridge for a few days, i don't know all the formualtions are way over the top dose wise but as you point out the d alpha tocopherol is only one form and to much creates ratio problems with the other forms, the a alpha tocopherol form is only really popular cause its main effect is to make the skin subtle......its used in comestic formulations a lot, but hey its vitmain e and an anti oxidant so it must be good for you right? wrong. to much d alpha tocopherol is oxidant since it creates shortages of the other types. anyway brown rice is a suprisingly good scource of vitamin e tocotrienols. > Does anyone use this? Any problems and what dosage please? I can't find the RDI info on Dana's site. > Prue > > >
Guest guest
seleniums. actually i was reading rene caisse and how she was saying people didn't understand her saying such and such a dose not more, people think more is better........ its the both seleniums. you do not get the effect otherwise. anyway, i take the selenium(alternating daily) about mid morning, away from any potentially inhibiting bulk minerlas. don't take the vitamin e every day, the formulation is still unbalanced........ > >i use the twinlab maxilife rice >tocotrienols and pierce the >capsule and squeeze a drop out >and only swallow that..........it >may be possible that the pierced >capsule keeps ok in the fridge >for a few days, i don't know > >all the formualtions are way over >the top dose wise > > Thanks . I have a link at the top of this page for vitamin USRDA http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm I have experimented with it, but so far have not seen any difference with my kids. I will watch them when I remove it, to see if I notice anything at that time. Dana
Guest guest
We saw changes within 48 hours on vit E. (We saw improvement on fish oil too, but nothing like this). At first I also thought it was wishful thinking...I so wanted to be right about this. But over the course of the next week and then weeks - he just blew us away. Within a week it was so obvious that we had a different child on our hands - and the OT called to see what was up, since he could now do things with ease we had worked months on with little progress. Enjoy the ride. - > I have had Gavin (my 3yo apraxic son) on 2 Omega 3-6-9 and 1 EPA per day for about a month. I have noticed improvements in his vocalizations. He still has very few words, but is making sounds and actually trying to communicate with me by showing me what he wants to get his point across. I was going to increase the fish oil starting on Friday, but then decided to give Vitamin E a try. I was at the grocery store, of all places, and just happened to go through the pharmacy when I thought I would look for natural vitamin E. I found one that was natural, checked the label, and it was d-alpha and not dl-alpha so I got it. It also happened to be 50% off! WOO HOO! > > Now I am pretty sure this isn't wishful thinking. I just started him on it yesterday evening. Today, he showed me that he needed to use the toilet (a first). He put his finger over his lips to tell me to " shh " because his toy kitty was sleeping. He asked me for more " yum yums " (children's dha...he loves them, so why stop when they don't seem to be hurting anything). He asked to go " ou " which I'm guessing means out since he's never tried to express outside. He came up to me and very clearly said, " HI! " and then held up three fingers and said " me " . He said " ba " for bath as I am typing this message! Is it a coincidence? Is it the fish oils just now kicking in? I have decreased the trans fats in all of our diets recently. Is that the key? I don't know, but whatever it is, it's working! I'm hoping to have more to report in the next few days. > > Mandy Knapp > Creative Memories Unit Leader > (847) 245-4133 > (224) 577-8304 > www.mycmsite.com/mandyknapp > > Your Life | Your Story | Your Way > >

Guest guest
I'm giving just one capsul of gammaE 400 iu. I am poking it and squeezing it in the lemonaide with the other stuff. These capsuls are not as easy to squeeze as nordic naturals, but it does get in there. Guest guest
I'll be interested to know what you find out. I've chosen to not supplement with Vit. E. Somewhere, some time ago I read that you have to be careful with it. Guest guest
I recommend checking out the NIH website. It's a government site, so the info in it is very mainstream and conservative (I don't mean that in the political sense, just in the sense of being careful). I read through the vitamin E info there when I was considering whether to supplement my 2 yr old. It actually gives information about safe levels for babies, children and pregnant women, and it mentions studies that raised safety concerns about E but states that the studies were faulty and have been criticized. It's possible the folks who are concerned about E (or the old articles you might have read) were thinking of/based on those particular studies. I think it's a good idea to do as much research as you can and to feel comfortable with your decision, whatever it is. Just thought this resource might be helpful. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Having worked many years in a hospital I know how dangerous seemingly > > harmless supplements can be so when I saw all the info on Vitamin E I > > decided to talk to a couple of Pharmacists. Guest guest
Medical professionals (no offense, !) tend to be sceptical of supplements - they are taught much more about addressing disease with medications than preventing problems with supplements and natural approaches. There is a huge gulf (for most vitamins) between the DV (which is the amount assumed to prevent defiency diseases like scurvy with vit C) and amounts that cause toxicity. I encourage you all to do your own research and weigh the potential benefit of vitamin E against the risk (which at such a low dose, I'm not sure of). You can always have periodic blood tests to check levels if you are concerned. Witholding a vitamin in which your child is deficient is harmful. > > Having worked many years in a hospital I know how dangerous seemingly > harmless supplements can be so when I saw all the info on Vitamin E I > decided to talk to a couple of Pharmacists. Guest guest
Hi Tara, I just spent a couple hours digging through the Vit E messages, the original message that posted about 's experience with it is number 50746. Hope that helps you get started. I have to say, I agree with everyone who has mentioned that it would be really nice if we could somehow get all this supplement info into a separate file in one place. Laurel > > Hello. Guest guest
The ProEFA and EPA are lemon flavored. Sounds like the right thing! My kids like the taste too! As for vitamin E I started with just d-alpha and I got it at my regular grocery store. I'd stay away from the undefined " mixed tcopherols " type. I started with 400 IU of d-alpha and then went up to 800 IU. After we were at 800 we added in gamma. The gamma I found had equal amounts of d-alpha and d-gamma so I just stopped one of the 400 IU d-alpha only pills. We're on a total of 800 IU d-alpha and 400 IU d-gamma now.
