Hi list,

I talked to the makers of the yogurt starter and they will test the

yogurt. The yogurt will be made with different yogurt makers and then

sent to a lab where the lactose levels will be measured.

The process will be started in a few days.

I missed the beginning of this thread. I just got my yogurt maker

and would like to start making yogurt this weekend. Can you briefly

tell me what this discussion is about?

Thanks,

,

People have been taking the temperature of the yogurt they are making

or of water heated in the yogurt makers and finding that the temp is

higher than recommended for our purposes. This may be because the

yogurt makers were not designed to run for 24 hours. Although we are

not certain this is even a problem, there is some concern that the

bacteria would be killed off to some extent and not consume all the

lactose. We will all be relieved if the lab test shows that the

lactose is in fact gone.
