Guest guest
Hi All, I hope better days are on the horizon for all of us. Does anyone have these symptoms before or during a flare? I feel overall achey and weak, warm to touch at night, but no fever, and general irritability? Seems to be a pattern for me. Happens 5-7 days before a painful flare. Usually, can tell a flare is coming because I get fairly grouchy (poor husband). My pancreatitis scenario tends to run in short cycles too. I will have 5-7 good days and then I get grouchy, achey and weak and then comes the pain and nausea. Pain lasts average 3 days and then 5-7 good days and the cycle starts over. The best I can describe it is as if the pancreas works hard and then " poops out " , musters up steam again, and " poops out " again. I would be interested if others have a similar experience. Thanks, Pat
Guest guest
Dear Patty, Stress is a major factor in cp and if you have a poor husband that doe's not help things. My doctor has me on 10mg. of Valium 4 times a day to keep me calm. Any and all stress will send me straight to the hospital every time. You may want to talk to your doctor about it. Good Luck, Janet
Guest guest
Pat: I have those symptoms. Usually I just feel bad before an attack and can't quite pin point it but then it comes. A big part in managing this stuff is knowing your own pattersn. Sounds like you do. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I have somewhat of the same symptoms. I'm not as precise as you though. I have had as long as six weeks without an episode (that was once and anything like that is rare) and I did have a recent period (mid Feb to mid March) with no problems. However, I also have had episodes on successive days. My Panc. attacks can last for as little as four hours and as long as three days. Most common is one day with the following two days for recovery. My symptoms have been like this for about 5 years now. Best wishes, Poncho - GA
Guest guest
Like Pat and Kaye I definitely get to be even more of a grouch ahead of a flare-up. My sleep patterns are also very disrupted before and during a bad phase. I get only a few hours of proper sleep during the night combined with excessive sleepiness during the day. Does anyone else experience this? I try to discipline myself so that I don't nap during the day but exhaustion can just wipe me out completely and I have no choice. Unfortunately, my otherwise wonderful husband sees the sleep thing as something I should be able to control. Any thoughts> Another thing that happens for me is an increase in clumsiness - my typing goes to bits and stuff gets dropped all the time. Hoping that we all feel better RSN Rosie
Guest guest
Pat, I have similar symptoms also. I don't always get grouchy until after the attack starts. I do get tired and feverish. My eyes will get red and I will start to retain fluid. I sometimes get a headache too. I have not been without pain for 2 years now. I have it everyday. It is sometimes less than other days but it is always there. Guest guest
Rosie I too have the same sleep problems, eg not much at night when in pain but sleep during the day. My partner also sees it as somethign I should control, but from exhaustion I somtimes have to sleep during the day especially atthe weekends. I dont know how to make them understand total exhaustion and this, I try and put up with as much myself but it becomes a bot much of late Cheers Debs
Guest guest
Dear Rosie, I've noticed since I started taking the Oxycontin I also have problems of waking up during the night and can't sleep. I also nap during the day as well. Most of the time I wake up in pain. Sincerely, Janet
Guest guest
Rosie, yes, I have a problem with getting to sleep in the night and then just fall asleep during the day, which then makes it impossible for me to sleep at night the nezt day, etcetera, etcetera...... Been there done that a lot. I'm still trying to fix that one. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
