what thermometers is everyone using? I'm testing my crockpot to see

what temp it is so I can try to make yogurt in it. my meat thermometer

says it is 108 degrees. I then used the Polder digital thermometer

and it said 119 degrees.

which one should I trust more?

i worked for years in electronics and references are always a problem

if you brought some water to a rolling boil (distilled preferably but

tap water will be close enough)

it should measure 210 - 212 F

generally digital has higher accuracy

There are some " instant-read " dial-top thermometers that you can adjust. I.e. if

you boiled

water and it read 216, you would adjust a nut underneath so it reads 212. HTH.

I use a digital thermometer from The Source (aka Radio Shack). You can set it to

beep

when it reaches above a certain temperature and below another temperature so

it's great

for yogurt. You can adjust from F to C readings.
