Tangia, you are doing great ....this was my first Thanksgiving without all

the food and I must say I did miss the pumpkin pie and the sweet potato

casserole, but i would just run to the couch and sit down and cross my

legs..and that made it all better..lol lol...Crossing my legs is such a great

joy for me..lol lol...I did eat a little of the things I liked, but nothing

sweet..the dressing gave me a little heart burn but it was cornbread

(southern) dressing...Northern dressing is different...not as spicy...Since

my hubby is a yankee i have had to great pleasure of eating both and i do

prefer the Northern version...(bread crumbs)...Oh well, I also made it

through and we only have Christmas and New Years to go and then we will be

home free..lol..I am joining a fitness club Monday ...no more new years

resolutions for me...the usual one .. " I am gonna lose 100 lbs this year and

get in shape..ha ha...that one was always down the drain after the first

week...Hope your Holidays are great...Keep posting..

Well hello gang! I haven't posted often but I read your posts daily. I

thought that it was time that I told some of my tale of after the MGB. .

.. . .

It's been five weeks now since surgery, and I couldn't feel more

wonderful. I have the impression that I will be feeling better as time

goes on, but for now it's been great. Today was the first time that I

had built up the nerves to get on the scale, but it was soooo worth it.

Even after a day of Thanksgiving dinner with my family, I've still

managed to lose 37 pounds. I can't say how excited I was. I haven't

taken any of my diabetic medication since surgery and I must say that I

feel that I don't need it at all. I normally experienced migraines at

least every other day before surgery and now I don't remember having

even one since surgery. I've experienced pretty much everything as far

as food goes. I still haven't been to any of the fast food joints

though. I tried Boston Market once and that had me on the side of the

highway throwing it all back up, so needless to say I haven't tried that

anymore. I mainly eat different pastas, grits and mashed potatoes. My

meats have been baked fish, chicken breasts, pork chops (once) and steak

(once). I can't eat more than one slice of bread in a day. Before

surgery I thought that those first two weeks of broth and crackers would

be a breeze. Boy was I wrong! Those were the hardest two weeks of my

life I think. But nonetheless I made it through. I must say that this

holiday dinner was the hardest one I've had yet. My mother bakes cakes

and pies like you wouldn't believe. She baked four home-made red velvet

cakes and about ten sweet potato pies. I was so used to eating a couple

slices of cake and taking home a whole pie, that this year when I got

ready to leave my moms house my bags were so much lighter. No cakes or

pies packed away. I felt really good knowing that I wouldn't eat a

whole cake within a few days.

Anyway, let me end this by saying that at this time in my life, I feel

wonderful. I'm glad that I found this tool while I'm still young, so

that I can live out the rest of my 20's and the rest of my life in pure

bliss. Thanks to all that kept me encouraged through the starting

process, and I'll try to post more often. If anyone has any questions,

please feel free to email me anytime. mzrite@...

Sincerely,

Tangia in Orlando
