Guest guest
Well, the strawberries are definitely not a good food for him right now. Why don't you try a pealed, seeded, and cooked fruit that is easier to digest like pear, apple, or peach? Be careful not to give him too many of the chicken pancakes just because you don't want to give him too much of the animal protein. It sounds like you've gotten far enough that you should switch to full blown SCD from the beginning. You can do two days of intro with the cooked carrots and the meats and eggs and such. At this point, even one day of intro might cover it. Then, you should definitely give him another carb food like some sort of fruit. If he's having trouble getting his bowels to move, you could do a cooked peach because bananas and homemade pearsauce and applesuace can be binding for some people. You can also try the electrolite drink on pecanbread.com because it is helpful in getting the bowels to move for some. He definitely needs to have a stool very soon. He probably doesn't feel well because he hasn't used the bathroom in a few days, and he could be experiencing die off. Also, with those bowels not moving, the die off toxins could be just sitting there in his gut...making him feel really crummy. What about the diluted legal grape juices? That could help with the need for more carbs. Meleah I need some encouragement My son has been SCD for almost six days. I'm about to give up. My main goal when I started was to just incorporate SCD foods with his regular foods since he's so picky and then start hard core later. Well, he started to eat the chicken pancakes and I was thrilled. I was using strawberries as reinforcement. Take two bites of pancake and you can have a strawberry. Day two he ate ten pancakes. Day three he ate seven pancakes. Day four he wouldn't touch pancakes. I gave him a few strawberries and some carrots and bites of Colby cheese on day four. Day five I made banana muffins with almond flour. He ate a few of those with some strawberries that I started to cook and peel. This is day six and he's had half a chicken pancake and some peeled strawberries and one muffin. As far as supplements I've given him Kirkman's liquid zinc once a day and the Kirkman's multi-vitamin every other day. He's only had one bowel movement on day two so he has not pooped in four days. I've given him a glycerin suppository which did nothing. His energy is very low. I took him to OT and he didn't want to do much. He looks like he has the flu. I'm so worried. What should I do? I don't want to give up because we've come this far and if it's die-off then I don't want to have to go through this again. What should I do? He's so picky and I'm feeding him things that are SCD, and I realize that I shouldn't give him strawberries in the beginning, but if I don't he will not eat. Help please. Thanks for any advice.
