Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been told that my cholesterol levels are quite high and I wondered whether this was part of my CP - or just another random symptom. I don't really know where my body gets its cholesterol from since I follow a low-fat vegetarian diet. Hopefully I'll get some meds to control the levels - is there anyone out there with any experience? Hope you all have good and pain free weekends Rosie
Guest guest
Rosie, I'm not sure whether this is a part of the CP saga, but I do know that diabetes can alter it tremendously. For example, after I had CP for two years, I had an LDL of 88. The doctors were pleased with this. I had just been diagnosed with pancreatitis caused Type 1 diabetes. In the two years since then, my LDL has increased to 138, which has my Endocrinologist climbing down my neck about cholesterol. They don't want a diabetics LDL to be any higher than 100. The doctor knows that I eat a low fat diet and am very strict with my diet, yet the cholesterol levels keep climbing. As a result, he just started me on cholesterol medicine, Vytorin, last month, which will hopefully help lower my levels. I don't know whether to blame it on the diabetes, the CP, or genetics! My father has had two heart attacks, and is on cholesterol medication because of that, but no one else in my family, his family or my relatives, has had any cholesterol problems. If it is a problem for you, hopefully your doctor will prescribe something to help lower it. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
