Guest guest
I was discharged from the hospital last nite and have pretty much spent all that time in the bed. Gosh I dont know why people think you rest in the hospital. Anyway its really great to be home. I am swollen big time and am having a ton of pain. They put me on Oxycodone and Oxyxontin and Billy brought them home this evening. The pharms were closed last nite. At least I am finally getting some pain relief. I have a couple of JP drains dangling from my hips and an incision again from my sternum to below my navel. They did " pretty up " my incision tho, we'll see when all the swelling has gone down. They took alot more muscle from my oblique muscles then they had thought would be needed. But the defect was rather large. this is kind of neat. They put in a pump filled with a type of lidocain and attached it to the incision line. It numbed the incision line so that I would not feel pain and it worked like a charm. they pulled it out on Wed (I think) and by that afternoon I was starting to really feel the difference. It came in this nifty little fanny pack that they said I could keep, parting gift I suppose..LOL I really appreciate the visits with Heidi ( we could talk for hours endlessly) and R and his lovely wife. It was a very pleasant surprise to see them. It was really funny talking about all the rooms we had been in on that floor of MUSC. The world just gets smaller and smaller doesn't it. I had a lovely phone call from , although I wasn't feeling well at the time. Then a really great surprise of hearing from Darren O in Wisconsin. He called several times but we kept getting this really wicked feedback on the phone sounded a lot like a fax machine. I wish he and I could have talked longer, he has the neatest accent and one that I have never heard. Unfortunetaly that squealling feedback cut the conversation short. He is such a nice man. Thank you all for all the arm thoughts and prayers. I have tons of pages to go back and read; there are so many I may not have a chance. I still feel like I was hit by a bus and am walking around like the hunchback of Notre Dame. That will get better with time. Oh and my islets are fine, no problems with them at all. I hope everybody is doing well and thanks again. Warmly,
