Hello everyone,

I started my son on the SCD diet after he was very sick with his annual

stomach virus that he has been getting since he was 2, and he is now 6.

This was in February when SCD all began for us,and now my question is

do other people have problems with their children wetting the bed? My

son is potty (trip) trained to void in the toilet but the past few

weeks he has been going in the bed. It takes him a little longer to get

to sleep too, but before he does he has wet the bed two or three times.

Does anyone have any insight into this, to prevent it? I have tried not

to give him fluids too late and to take him to the potty right before

and if he is up awhile to take him again, but each time he is wet again.

Please do not withhold fluids! This is the body's way of diluting and

eliminating toxins.

There is probably something in his diet that he is reacting to.

Dairy is the most noted source of enuresis but not the only one.

Perhaps if you list what he is eating, people will be able to isolate

things that caused enuresis in their households.

Kind regards,

I have this problem with my 8 year old son as well. It went away for at least a

couple of months and then came back again. I don't know what changed. I

thought the problem was over. He went 2 or 3 weeks without wetting the bed.

Now we are back to nightly once or twice and the night before last, 3 times.

Hope someone figures this out.

I'd like to know the answer to this too, because my son, who has been toilet

trained for many, many years, is now having more pee accidents, sometimes

several times per day. It's really unusual. What is causing him to lose

control?

Thanks,

I'd also like to comment on wetting when on SCD. Our son, who has been using the

toilet on his own and not wetting the bed for several years has also had a

severe increase in bed wetting. Often, every night. Soaking, soaking wet.

We attributed it to the increase in liquids. As he's not getting any sugars from

other sources but does get a small amount from diluted grape or orange juice,

we've observed him drinking much more than he was in the past. Although while we

work on limiting drinks after 6:00 pm, he will often still wet the bed.

Wondering if there are other factors with the SCD involved in bed wetting.

I am wondering about the same thing...

My daughter is also totally potty trained but started peeing in her

bed at night when we took her off milk and complex carbs a few days

before starting SCD. She is on SCD for more than two weeks now and

continues to pee in her bed most nights. I do not think she is

drinking more than before.

However, before SCD she had times where she was peeing on the carpet

even during the day. Usually she ate something that was not good

for her. We even had her tested for UTIs twice. Tests were

negative. (She had UTIs before at other times.)

I am wondering whether this is part of the detoxing process. The

body trying to get rid of toxins even at night.

Hi there,

I am not trying to withhold his fluids but thought he might be drinking too

much at the last 2 hours before bedtime, he drinks plenty fluids earlier than

that and always was a good drinker before SCD. I just wonder why, he will go all

day without wetting himself then wet the bed 2 and 3 times. I am taking my son

Thursday for allergy testing, and I try my best to be careful about what he eats

though I am not there all the time he goes to school etc. So, by the responses

here I see that bed wetting is happening often. Does anyone have reason for why

it happens? I know we really are wanting to know here, and now I wonder how

long does the bed wetting last?

This problem has been reported a lot especially by newbies and

especially when children start having consistently formed regular

stools. Some of the bed wetting may be caused by an increase in the

amount of fluid (more liquids, vegetables and fruits). Another

possible reason is that as inflammation in the body decreases a lot

of water build up is being released. Also, if there were loose

stools or diarhhea previously the water that would have been in the

stools is now been taken out and is going to the bladder - ending up

with a lotmore urine. This happened when my son started having solid

stools.

I would take him to the bathroom during the night (still asleep),

when I went tobed and eventually he was able to make it through the

night without wetting the bed.

That does help me to better understand the bed wetting situation. My son did

have some diarrhea especially in the beginning of the diet which turned to more

formed stools. He is eating more veggies and fruit than he has eaten in a long

time which I am glad to see. I will keep trying to get him up to the toilet in

the night like you did. Thanks.
