Guest guest
Responses my mum got on the pain doc and procedures I have been through Well I rang the pain clinic today Do they do plain blocks ? yes only with written consent. Do they do blind tests where they do not tell patients what they are doing or what they are giving them? No Do they do epidural's for pain relief? yes with written consent and telling patient what they are giving them. Do they put in venous pain pumps? Yes and telling patients what they are giving them Would they take a referral from you? Yes either by the doctor who would give a written history or from your hospital Their assessment would take four hours and they said would be good to get a second opinion. They do have a pain pump option via epidural called a spinal cord stimulator injection and would cost the hospital $26,000 and would only do where there were no other options available and it was affecting your quality of life. You have the option and they would encourage it if you had concerns about your treatment at ...... in that you should see the head of the pain team about your ethical concerns. Tell ...... about your concerns and attitude of medical specialist and go with an open mind and assess with your support person later. They have never heard of a hospital treating a person for pain without telling them what they are doing and consent. They did ask it he was an overseas doctor They believed that you are eligible for malpractice from the suffering over 6 years The said that 6 years is too long to be putting up with severe pain and I said that at times you believe that your life is not worth continuing if this level of pain continues throughout your life. Sounds as though you need me to come with you or you need to come down here for a day in the first instance. You can get them to refer you for a spinal cord assessment Thanks goodness I have my mum, so now I am goign to get my records make an appt to see my specialist, and get an appt to see head pain guy where I am rigth now with list of questions then get referral debs
