Guest guest
Hi, I am new here and am about to start SCD for my ASD son and myself. I am unsure, however, if it is safe to start while I am still breastfeeding my younger son? Does the die off toxins etc go through the brestmilk, or is it safe? I am sure he will benefit once I am on the diet as I think he has some candida issues too, but I am a bit worried about the initial reactions. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks! Guest guest
It is perfectly safe to switch to SCD while nursing. You will likely see die off symptoms in your baby just as you will with your son and yourself. Remember that he has been getting all of that " sugary " milk from you eating the complex carbs and such. He may have stool changes, be irritable, sleep more, sleep less, or who knows what else. Guest guest
My 2 year old has been SCD for 2 months...he only nurses for a short time once a day. I have eliminated all grains but the occasional rice and potato and I have been abiding by the diet. Although I have had sorbet a couple times that has organic cane juice in it a couple times...and I didn't think it would be a problem....but I guess I was wrong....uuggghhhh > > It is perfectly safe to switch to SCD while nursing. Guest guest
i breastfeed my 2 year old as well, and the diet has done nothing but good things for her. she is actually the reason i started doing it. our die-offs seem to be totally unrelated to each other. she had die off right away on the diet whereas i had it much much later. and when i was feeling fluish and sluggish from die off, she was happy as a clam. when i saw the stuff that came out of her little body in the first week, i was SO relieved to be getting it out of her body! silvia SCD 4.5 months, eczema, food intolerance, yeast overgrowth > My 2 year old has been SCD for 2 months...he only nurses for a > short time > once a day. Guest guest
Hi Nonni, If you do see die off in your baby you should be able to give an epsom salt bath for yourself and the baby (if necessary) to draw any toxins out of the skin. bottom of http://pecanbread.com/new/temporarysymptoms.html Sheila SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs mom of and > It is perfectly safe to switch to SCD while nursing.
