Minced Chicken question...

Can anybody tell me if its okay to use bought minced chicken instead

of chicken pieces??

I buy one whole chicken a week plus about a kilo of maryland pieces

or legs, thighs, wings etc.

However at the moment i'm finding it a lot easier to just buy

organic minced chicken, bake it in the oven and then its all ready

to be dished up. is only 15 months so doesn't eat " pieces "

of chicken as such. She really prefers the texture of the minced

stuff, and gets quite frustrated with the stringyness of breast

meat. If i boil up her regular chicken i then have to painstakingly

chop all of it into tiny tiny pieces so that she will be happy to

eat it. With chicken mince its much easier....

Is it okay to do this? Do they include the skin in chicken mince?

And if so, is chicken skin okay? I'm really trying to put some

weight on jess at the moment too so was thinking the mince might be

fattier than boiled chicken (I always remove the skin after its

cooked as thats what it says to do in the book). But is this a

healthy option?? I know to eat chicken skin everyday would be

extremely unhealthy for myself so is it okay for a toddler??

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi ,

<<Can anybody tell me if its okay to use bought minced chicken

instead of chicken pieces??>>

As long as the only ingredient is chicken ( no preadded seasonings

etc.) it should be fine. Check with the butcher to confirm.

<< Do they include the skin in chicken mince?>>

You'd have to ask the butcher?

<< And if so, is chicken skin okay?>>

Yes, as long as she tolerates it well.
