Yoghurt making (UK?)

Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed many times before!

We had our son Gregor on SCD for 6 months and seen considerable

improvements (fewer seizures and regained skills). I'd like to try

introducing yoghurt but keep putting it off!

What I need to know is - can anyone recommend the best way to make

yoghurt in the UK? I'm not sure which starter is best, or if it's OK

to use the 'Easiyo' kit I've seen in Lakeland. Does anyone use a good

quality bought organic yoghurt? I'm sure home made must be best but

the whole process sounds a little daunting to me...

Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi ,

I'm in UK and I use the Lakeland bulk yogurt maker

http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!3440_3441

but not the easy EasyYo packs as they mostly have too many suspect

ingredients. I use the Yogourmet starter from Lucy's Kitchen shop,

it consistently makes very good yogurt but if you don't want to

order from USA (import taxes) you can also buy a dried starter here

http://www.auravita.com/products/AURA/GGFO13758.asp

or use Total Greek yogurt from any supermarket. It seems daunting

when you read about it but once you take the plunge and do it you'll

find that it's really very simple, after the first time you won't

even have to look at the instructions again.

good luck

Hi ,

Like Janet, I use the Lakeland yoghurt maker. For a starter, I use

the Woodlands Organic Sheep Milk Live Yoghurt, which I get from

Waitrose. Apparently, large Sainsbury's or Tesco's sell it too. I

use goats milk, and the yoghurt comes out thick each time. Good luck.
