Guest guest
Dear Janet, I'm sorry you are faced with this dilemma. It is so hard when we see children ill, isn't it? Possibly the naswer for you is to wait a little longer to see how things progress. It is possible to have attacks of pancreatitis at a young age. I was only about five when I had my first severe attack, possibly even younger. (I know I was living in a house which we left when I was five.) On the other hand, there are so many things which could cause a child to have stomach ache. Does the little one know that you suffer from pain yourself? If the pain continues to attack from time to time and/or if it is severe, I personally think it would be right to discuss this with your specialist and, if he or she thinks it appropriate, with the little girl's parents. BTW, forgive me if you have already said this in an earlier post, but have you yourself been tested for any of the genetic mutations which can cause familial or hereditary pancreatitis? The test isn't foolproof as about 20% of cases are caused by genetic mutations not yet discovered, but if you did test positive, your daughter could later have her little girl tested for the same mutation. I hope her pain turns out to be something much more common and more manageable than pancreatitis. Take care. Regards, Fliss (UK)
Guest guest
I was faced with the same kinda thing not to long ago with my son. All the signs and symptoms of CP and/or Gallstones. By the grace of God it turned out to be a Peptic Ulcer. Perhaps your granddaughter has something brewing like an Ulcer. I remember for me (NOT comparing or anything) but things at my house growing up weren't always good and my tummy and back hurt alot. I was starting to give myself an ulcer worrying about alot of stuff. I was 5. Just wanted to give you another viewpoint. Guest guest
Janet, while I don't have a granddaughter or a child, I did have two attacks when I was 3 and 4 that my mother thinks were pancreatitic attacks because they were in the same location as my attacks now. They just didn't know to test me for pancreatitis though they did test me for appendicitis and they took me off solid foods till the pain went away. I would definitely say it's worth getting your granddaughter tested. I'd rather be safe then sorry and the sooner it is diagnosed the better off she'll be. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
