We are going to Walt Disney world for 10 days. LEave in 2 weeks. Has

anyone had any success in staying legal to the scdiet while in Disney

for that long. Will the restuarants accomadate to the diet? Do I need

to call ahead? Do you find things on the menu that you can order with

out making special arranagement? We are still in the early stages of

the diet. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Carla

If you email the park, they will send you back great

updated information about dining in the park.

I do not have the email handy, but I found it on their

website. I asked for GFCF foods and they sent me back

very detailed information. I am sure they can

accomodate SCD.

Hi Carla:

You will have a great time at Disney. The chefs are great. I recommend making

all of your reservations in advance and explain the scd limitations. The chefs

from each restaurant called us early in the day on our cell phone while we were

in the parks, asking what they could do to accommodate our son's diet. Upon

arriving at each restaurant we checked in and reminded the hostess of our

dietary restrictions. As soon as we were seated--or earlier-, the chef would

come out and greet us and go over things again. Then they often came out while

we were eating to see that everything was alright. I can't say enough about all

of them. We left with photos of our daughter with all the princesses and photos

of our son with all the chefs! They also have a " chef network " of sorts where,

the chef at one restaurant knew what our son had eaten at a nearby restaurant 2

days earlier. And the kitchens of some restaurants--especially in MGM--are

shared. I really suggest you give

advance notice if you expect them to accommodate SCD's limitations.

Also, I baked about a million scd cookies/treats ahead of time and brought

them, so he'd have them at the parks. I don't think they can accommodate SCD

desserts, so I didn't ask them to, though the chef at the Norway restaurant in

Epcot, did have something, but I can't remember what it was now (we went 2 years

ago). We stayed in the Wilderness cabins so we had the full kitchen and I think

most of my luggage was diet related!

Good Luck!
