Hi,

I have a 7 yr old boy w/ ASD and plan on starting SCD in 1 1/2 weeks.

He is sensitive to Phenols/Salicylates. When can honey be introduced

to the diet and are there any low phenol honeys out there? He seems to

react to clover honey.

Thanks,

Marcia

" ...I had my son on clover honey for ages and then I decided to

remove all the

high salicylate foods from his already restricted SCD and found out

that clover

honey is very high in salicylates. I saw much calmer, better

behaviors since

then. There is still plenty of honey in his diet, but now I buy

wildflower or

alphalfa honey instead of clover. Of course it costs more too!

Honey can be introduced at the beginning of the diet - it is on the

intro.
