Patty, yes the OxyContin is still in your system but it is not in the

amount that your body is used to. If you can take Oxycodone that will

help with the withdrawals but you will have to taper off that also. When

I was off of OxyContin I was still taking OxyCodone for about 2 weeks

after just to get me through the whole process. My doctor told me it

would take me 6 months to get off all the narcotics I was on and I did

it in 4 1/2 months. When I first started I cut down too much and went

bezerk! I had a wedding to go to so I took a pill and I was fine again.

I then tapered off a lot slower and made it. When your body is used to a

lot of pain meds and you come off of them it takes a while for your

nerve endings to re-adjust to pain again. A pebble in your shoe can feel

like a rock. (Dr. Sutherland told me about this). If you do a search on

this forum under withdrawals you should be able to find out more info

also. Congrats on your son!
