I have chronic pancreatitis for 4 years and have missed family functions because of a flare-up or a bad day, but to not even feel like going out sounds like too much pain for everyday life. " That is interesting that you addressed this. Before I had pancreatitis, I defined pain management as being free of pain. Once diagnosed my pain management doctor told me that when someone is living with chronic pain, pain management is not necessarily being free of pain, but is defined based on quality of life. As my life, living with pancreatitis, continued, I soon came to understand this view. Though my quality of life will never be the same as before life with pancreatitis, I now use this as a point of reference. Guest guest
Hi Karyn, I'm so glad I could help. I just returned from the Dr's office and pharmacy and I am trying the Fentanyl patch to increase my quality of life. The patch gives 24 hr round-the-clock pain relief which should mean a lot less pain every morning. Some days I wake up and have this huge sword going thru my upper-right abdomen and straight out my back. I hope this works for me as it has for so many of you. You are all in prayers and my heart....Jim
