Guest guest
My son has been scd for about 7 weeks now. Before that he was gfcf for about 3 months with good results, then i discovered scd and immedietly felt it was healthier and better but so far havnt seen much progress. We started with intro diet and currently on stage 2 foods. His BM are better with scd but still gets loose ones every other day.I had alot of problems finding the right probiotic but finely have L Acidophilus powder.150 billion cfu per gm from custom biotics scd legal.I started off with one 0.01 gm scoop of powder with diluted juice in the morning and one at night with no reaction/dieoff so doubled the dose but still with no results.Should I keep increasing the dose? I thought that the limmit was 9 billion cfu for children. My son is 3years 8 months. Please anyone with any help or info respond as im getting really desparate and disheartend. Guest guest
I don't know if this helps, but we have had very poor results with SCD also. What we did recenlty to turn things around was to take the SCD foods and rotate them on a 5 day rotation and voila -- we had 1 terrible day and 4 good ones. The terrible day was the one that included chicken (sort of the mainstay of SCD) carrots & celery. He didn't eat many of the carrots or celery, so I realized I was looking at chicken as the culprit. Now that the chicken is out of his system, we have formed stools and a calm child. I would try to rotate the foods and see if a common one is causing a reaction. - ummrumaisa wrote: My son has been scd for about 7 weeks now. Before that he was gfcf for about 3 months with good results, then i discovered scd and immedietly felt it was healthier and better but so far havnt seen much progress. Guest guest
During the intro diet we also realized our daughter cannot handle large amounts of chicken, carrots and grape juice. These cause her eczema to flair up. The basics were not so basic for us after all.
Guest guest
Other list members gave you excellent ideas to figure out what is wrong. What are you feeding your son? Are the veggies and fruit cooked, peeled and seeded? Any manufactured foods? Supplements? Guest guest
You do mention that your son's digestion is showing slow improvement. That is a very good sign. Just be patient.....some kids improve slowly. If you want to have super fast results then you should try the SCD yogurt. Please read the instructions carefully on the yogurt section of www.pecanbread.com We usually ask parents of children who were CF to wait two months before trying the yogurt. Your child might be ready in a week. Remove the squash and the bananas for a week and see if things get any better.
