Guest guest
Hello Heidi, et al! I phoned Chrissy last night. I was REALLY stupid, because, although had said the number was direct, I thought it would go to her section, to be taken initially by a nurse. I don't why I didn't think of it going straight to Chrissy! Anyway, I just decided on the spur of the moment to phone. I really did want to talk to her, or at least, pass on a message. I would have preferred to check first with a nurse that she was well enough to take a call, but there you are! I got straight through to Chrissy. We chatted for a while. I know she has been through so much and yet the FIRST thing she said was, " How's Jim? " That's so typical of her. She sounded tired when she first answered but picked up as we were speaking. I didn't want to tire her. She told me about the good time she had at Heidi's home, about and about Cyndi phoning. She seems to have a very lucky escape from something worse, from what I could gather. This is the fourth in her current series of operations. I DO SO HOPE ALL HER PROBLEMS ARE MORE OR LESS SOLVED NOW. She is so incredibly brave. I told her about Liverpool being a city of fantastic celebration because " we " have just won the European Champions' Cup (football...soccer). I was one of the few human beings in Liverpool not out on the streets that evening to welcome the cavalcade as it made its way from the airport to the town centre! As it's the fifth time Liverpool has won this cup (not consecutively....the first time was 1977) we now get to keep the actual cup and another will be made for the championship next year. I can't BELIEVE I'm talking about this! I have no interest at all in football but one couldn't help but be caught up in the excitement! My sons are thrilled. It was against Milan and was played in Istanbul. My younger son watched the match from Brussels...and with an Italian friend. Well.....they were friends at the beginning of the match!!! I can't wait to talk to Chrissy again. It was so exciting to be able to put a voice to an e-mail correspondant! She said she didn't really sound like a southern belle and I had to agree. I was expecting a much more typically southern accent. Well, of course, I only know these things from films and film stars!! She also thought I sounded more " royal English " , as she put it, than she expected. I think she expected something different as I'm from the north of England. Anyway...enough! I hope and pray that she will recover quickly now. As she said, she just wants to do normal things....to be a nurse, for Heaven's sake. How I hope she will get her wish to go back to work. She must be a fantastic nurse. She has a lovely gentle voice and would be so understanding of how people felt. She is so knowledgeable as well. I'm glad to hear she is better again today, Heidi. Incidentally, Jim's result today wasn't too bad although not as good as we'd hoped. His PSA level was 0.2, that is JUST considered undetectable. We would have preferred 0.02. He has an appointment with the consultant on the 8th June. Today's was only with the GP who thought the result OK. However, we know only too well how important the expert's view is. It's possible with this result that he will need further treatment. Wish I could just pop over to meet you all! When I retire maybe.......!!!! Who knows? Lots of love and very best recovery wishes to Chrissy again, Fliss (UK)
