Guest guest
Jim, After using the duragesic for 2-1/2 years, I've never experienced " anxiety " with it, fortunately. I don't doubt that you are, I'm just saying that at least that wasn't a side effect for me....the additional sweating alone is enough!! If this side effect continues, it appears you would have two choices: 1) discontinue using it and hope that you can find another med that will work as effectively, or, 2) have your doctor write you another script to treat the anxiety. You have to weigh all the pluses and minuses to make a decision that's suitable to your lifestyle. I know I had to make the same type of decision about one of my other meds. I also take 18,000 mgs. of Neurontin, that's used for pain relief. It's chief advantage to me is that it isn't a narcotic, so I was enthusiastic about having a med that was narcotic-free, and it's worked very successfully in helping to lessen my pain episodes. The only disadvantage with this drug is that it did cause excessive drowsiness, so much that I would fall asleep while in the middle of a conversation, and felt sleepy all day long. My only choice was to either quit taking it, or take another med that would keep me more alert, called Provigil. I opted to take the additional med, because I was so impressed with the effectiveness of the Neurontin. Over the months the need for the alertness med has worn off, and I've found that it's not necessary for me to take it to stay awake, so apparently my body has become adjusted to the Neurontin and isn't developing the same side effects anymore. That's a relief, too, one less pill to pop! I hope that you're able to find a suitable solution for your situation, and hope that this side effect is only temporary.
