Guest guest
How much meat should a 3 1/2 year old eat in a day? My daughter eats meat for lunch and dinner. I like to limit her meat intake somewhat because it makes her eczema flair up (too acidic). However, I also like her to get the benefits of consuming meat. What would be a good amount in a day for her age? What about an adult? She also eats eggs, veggies, fruits, yogurt and seafood.
Guest guest
With eczema, how do you know she doesn't have an allergy to the type of meat? Maybe she could have more if it was a different type? - foodchallenged <no_reply > wrote: How much meat should a 3 1/2 year old eat in a day? My daughter eats meat for lunch and dinner. Dairy is one of the most common food intolerance in people with eczema. Could the rash be from the yogurt? Maybe try eliminating either the meat or the yogurt for a few days to see. Carol F. Guest guest
did not get any dairy for a few weeks and she had her excema anyway. That's why I don't think it is the dairy. We did introduce goat yogurt but this did not make things worse. Her flair ups are usually after eating lunch and dinner, which include meat. It happens with any kind of meat. But especially with chicken. I am going to do a rotation diet with different kinds of meat each day for 4 days and everything else staying constant. Maybe I'll find out that way. But anyway what should a healty meat/ veggie ratio be for lunch and dinner? (Looking at volume) One unit meat and 2 units veggies? Or 1 unit meat to 3, or 4 units veggies? Or 1 unit > meat to 3, or 4 units veggies? > Some individuaks ARE allergic to chicken and/or meat. Chicken allergy Chicken allergy symptoms are described below. If you have them, you are positive to have chicken allergy. Take note that allergy to chicken is somehow similar to allergy to other meat. Just like there are people allergic to pork and beef, there are also people allergic to chicken meat. Some people, however, are allergic to chicken but are not allergic to chicken eggs. There are those, on the other hand, that are allergic to both. In the United States, statistics have it that about 0.6% to 5% of overall reported food allergies annually are chicken meat allergy. Manifestations of chicken meat allergy Among the most common and prevalent manifestation or symptom of chicken allergy are frequent infections like ear infections and bladder infections; asthma attack; bed-wetting; eczema; skin rashes; acne; unusual fatigue; insomnia; migraine; depression and chronic disturbance in the gastrointestinal system. So the next step would be an elimination diet in which you give up either the chicken or the meat for a few days to see if the eczema perists. SCDcan be done as a vegetarian diet but you will need sources of animal protein from DCCC, yogurt, cheese eggs and fish and vegetable protein from nuts and beans. Both of the latter are advanced foods and the beeans need long soaking, several rinses and cooking for 2 hours in UNSALTED water beforethey are added to a recipe. Nuts and beans are usually reserved until one is doing well and hbhas been on the diet for a while. Please consult with your pediatrician or family doctor further about this. Carol F. Guest guest
if it makes her eczema flare up, i would avoid it altogether. otherwise, her body will not have the chance to recover fully from that allergy. > With eczema, how do you know she doesn't have an allergy to the > type of meat? Guest guest
Hi foodchallenged, I am unable to eat storebought meats because of the hormones and antibiotics given to the animals. I use hormone, antibiotic free, grass fed meats, wild meat , free range chicken eggs and wild salmon. I try to keep the fruit and veggies in a rainbow of different colours to get a variety of nutrients. I heard a dietician say this was a simple approach to having a balanced diet. My bloodwork always comes back very good for vits and minerals. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs mom of and
