Guest guest
I am so very sorry the hear that your husband has been so ill. As everyone has told you, changes in mentation after such a traumatic experience is very common; not to mention all the different drugs he has been on. I know how difficult it is to even think about sending him to a nursing home. Try to emphasis that it is a REHAB center not a nursing home. Just the thought of going to a nursing home can blow people away.. He needs rehab not skilled nursing, make sure he understands that. The type of place that can help him regain his physical dexterity and mental capacity as quickly as possible. If he is still so adament in not going to a specialy center how about having the nurses and physicial therapist come to him at home. There are tons of home health services available that can make the transistion a lot easier. Please try to relax and get some rest. What suggested is an excellent idea. You will need every ounce of strength and energy you have caring for him irregardless of where he goes. I hope you can convnce him to go into rehab, from what I have experinced in my practice patients who have 24hour care in a rehab hospital return to their normal activities a lot quicker then those who do not. He seems like a very strong willed man who would WANT to get back to his normal activites of daily life as quickly as possible. He can obtain just that in a good rehab center. I have always kept you and in my prayers and will now add your beloved husband. 16K is really not that much when you look at the big picture. Shoot a good car will cost a heck of a lot more then that. Any chances of getting a bank loan? I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to your post but things are going a bit slowly for me these days, getting better tho. Please try to take care of yourself OK.
