Guest guest
My youngest daughter's been on this diet for 5 months now and doing well. My oldest was diagnosed as " meeting the criteria for ADHD " . We sort of tried the diet with her, but it didn't go well. I'm wondering if anyone's had success with this and the ADHD child or if they know of any suppliments/vitamins that could help. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Cheryl. We are restarting SCD for my ADHD son (4.5 year old). I had started it over a year ago for myself and put the kids on it as well. We ended up going off of it for a while and noticed that my son's behavior got worse when we went off the diet. (We hadn't even realized he had a behavior problem before this!) So we went back on the diet about a month ago (haven't done the intro diet a second time though). His behavior seems to be stablizing although he does still have occasional flairs. I am also trying to heal his chronic diarrhea. I am also looking into the Vit K protocol (although I think we might just stick with legal probiotics only and not the recommended VSL#3). My son also takes digestive enzymes (Houston) although I'm not sure they've helped his behavior any. He also takes zinc and molybdenum (we have copper overload issues). He also takes cod liver oil and fish oil and I think these really help. I am going to add some magnesium here soon as well. Currently we are doing SCD yogurt and s. boulardii for probiotics. On days we are out of yogurt we use legal acidophilus capsules. The yogurt/probiotics have made the first real change in his poop. I think they are key to healing. Oh, I should also mention we are modified SCD, we can't do nuts, can't do dairy (except dripped yogurt), can have only very very little fruit, and only minute amounts of honey once in a blue moon. I think if the diet helps one kid in the family, chances are it will be beneficial in some way to other children/family members.
