Hi ,

Sorry that you are also in this group! There are so many people affected

with this disease! I hope your doctor's find what is exactly going on with

you. In 5 years I finally found a gastroenterologist that is very

knowledgeable (he's the 3rd one I've been to). My 1st and 2nd acute attack

were only 3 months apart. For the 1st one I didn't have any insurance so I

suffered at home with the horrible pain. It lasted about 1 week. After

that my mom put me on her insurance right away. My PCP was very concerned

and did a lot of tests but all came back normal. 1 or 2 days before my 2nd

attack my PCP did CT scans, blood, etc and everything was normal....he was

shocked. For the 2nd attack I was hospitalized and an ERCP was done and the

GI made an incision on the pancreatic duct because it was being clogged with

bile and stones. After that I kept getting tests done and everything was

normal. My 3rd attack was last year and I was in the hospital for 2 weeks.

My enzymes were off the charts! An ERCP was done and the GI saw there were

stones passing through the pancreatic duct. I thought that after my

gallbladder was taken out all my pancreatic problems would disappear. I was

wrong. I started getting treated with pain meds since last year. I only

take them when I need them. There are some days (even weeks) that I'm with

no pain, but other days I'm in a lot of pain. Last year I was also

diagnosed with another stomach condition called Gastroparesis....which means

that my stomach is lazy and it takes a long time for my food to empty from

the stomach. This causes me to have nausea, pain, wt loss, and I get full

after a couple of bites. So far, my doctor is focusing on the pancreatitis.

I haven't been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis because my pancreas is

healthy. This is my 3rd pregnancy and with my 1st two I didn't suffer from

too much pain but with this one I've experienced a lot of pain and nausea!

I'm not considered high risk pregnancy because of my pancreatitis, she is

taking a good look at me and the baby since my 2nd baby passed away 11 hours

after his birth. He had a birth defect where he didn't develop his kidneys.

....a condition called Potter's Syndrome. So, this pregnancy has been very

stressful for me. But at least everything is looking good with this baby.

I'm sure you will find a lot of useful information in this group. I hope

all goes well on Wed. when you have your test. Where are you from?

Well this is all for now. Take care and God Bless!

Sincerely,

Liana
