I see no reason why there should be any distinction between types I and II when it comes to helping the diabetic maintain better control. It should be their primary goal to do anything possible to help their insuree's avoid complications, especially because THEY would be the one's having to pay in the long term. But that's not the way they want it to work. It just goes back to the issue that the insurance companies don't want people to get better, or have less need for the insurance in the first place.
