Guest guest
Hi , welcome aboard. You will find a lot of great info and support from the members of this board. They have helped me so many times and I dont think I woul dhave made it without their love and understanding. A CT scan is susally the first step, it may not show a lot of what is going on inside the pancreas itself but it will get a look at the organ itself to see if there is any swelling or other issues. It can also rule out anything else that may be going on. What kind of enzymes are you taking? I always had trouble with them at first. I take creon but it took a good 6 weeks for my body to get used to it. They gave me horrible gas, bloating and pain. but give yourself time, you will get used to it. In the meantime get some GasX or phayzyme or other anti gas med to ease that discomfort. Gas can be incredibly painful. I have had pancreatitis since childhood but was not diagnosed until about 2 years ago. I was also diagnosed with malabsorbtion first. It was weird tho, I had lost a lot of weight and my hair turned bright orange. I had Kwashiorkor disease. That diesease you see on those poor children in thrid world coutries who are starving to dealth and they have the swollen bellies and orange hair. Well that was me, a middle aged professional mother of 3 with Kwashiorkor. Who knew. I couldn't handle much food and would supplement my diet with Slimfast, several a day just to keep my strenght up. It did help for a little while. Eating small frequest meals may be your best bet. Low fat, ditch all the processed foods and be sure to drink lots of water. Also a lot of us take multi vitamins and antioxidents. They really help a lot. I think if you look on the top5plus5 site you will find a good list it not I think Heidi may have a list. Oh yeah, and no alcohol of any kind. Keep in touch and aks anything thing you want. We talk about everything on here. If there is anthing else that I can help with, please dont hesitate. Warmly, (SC)
