Guest guest
to my posts the last couple weeks. Wow what a strong lady and example for all of us that you took the time to respond to my post when you were in a terrible state yourself! I am glad to see you are recovering and that they found the problem quickly. I had to wait a week and a half on IV's at home to finally get scheduled for a feeding tube top be placed through my belly instead of the one in my nose. They did the surgery outpatient Friday the 3rd. I spent the whole day down there and they sent me home that night. What a ride home. I didn't know they were giving me morophine which gives me headaches (I have migraines) and does nothing for the pain untill the last shot before I came home. Then they said it was too late to do anythign different that I could take the pain med when I got home. Well the pain med they gave me was generic percocet which I didn't catch either until I had two doses down me at home. I thought it was the loratab they had given me before. Between the two I spent the night vomiting and with a massive headache that I could not get on top of. When I realized what was going on I knew if I went to the ER they would only be able to give me demerol if do anything at that point. I opted to try to wait it out as I had an IV in still I was getting hydration and had the phengran for the nausea or at least to knock me out for awhile. I knew the best thing would be to just let all the meds get out of my system and start fresh with the right stuff. What a couple days it has been I am thankful it was done over a wekend so my husband was home with me. I am getting around a little better now though I am surprised at how much it hurts and how worn out I am. My hubby and home health nurse say it is bedcause I have had no nutrition in two weeks and my body is just worn out from all this. I did finally get to talk to the doctor though and ask some questions. Anyhow thanks for listening and thanks for being such an example to all of us. the wyhillbilly
Guest guest
Hi , I sure do hope you regualr meds are helping you feel better. Thos PEG tubes hurt like the devil. I had one for about 3-4 moths and it was awful. It hurt so much and took about 2 weeks for it to settle down. I didn't have any stiches and cant think of where they might be. I have to admit I hated the stupid thing, drove me nuts. I couldn't tolerate the feedings at a high rate because then they would go right through me. I had a g-j tube and gave my feeding thorugh the j part (the jejunim). Anyway I was lassoed to the thing almost 24 hours a day. But at least it did make me stronger and healthier and that always helps to make one feel better. If the site is draining keep it clean with just warm water. If it starts to look a little infected with puss and such, you can clean it with hydrogen peroxide diluted by one half with sterile water. Mine drained a lot and I would have to put gauze around it so as not to stain my clothing. It was relly gross. Are you able to eat anything. I did take in alittle bit but not much,. Make sure to drink a lot of water, that will help keep your stomache somewhat settled. I am feeling better but still have loads of pain. Yesterday I went and did a little shopping for my kids birthdays and then through the frisbee 4 times for my dogs and you would think I had climb mount everest the pain was so bad. I really didn't think I had over done it at all. Today I am baking a cake, or should I say trying to bake a cake, I am not very good at it. I am making a chocolate turtle cake, its really great if I dont screw it up. I have gifts to wrap as well. I hope I dont over due it again but like I said it really doesn't not seem like that is too much. I'm glad that I was able to imspire somebody. Thank you very much for saying that. I have really had a very difficult time of things that last few years and have always tried to keep a positive outlook. Not always easy as I am sure you can understand. I know this may sound corny, but if I am able to help somebody in just the least little bit, then maybe all this has been worthwhile. Give the feeding tube a couple of weeks, it will get better and so will you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Warmly,
