Guest guest
Hi, everyone its been a long time since I posted and I thought that some of you might be interested on how my daughter Kristy is doing since her TP\ICT . She started out on a sliding scale on insulin and 15 units of lantus at night before bed.And now she doesn't take any sliding scale insulin ( and hasn't in 2 1/2 months ) and she is down to 6 units at bedtime ! She has gained her weight back and is looking healthy again (like before, ..before all the problems with the pancreas) She doesn't have pain anymore and hasn't had in almost 3 months and only meds she takes is her lantus and pancreatic enzymes to help with the digestion. She has some bad days when her sugar is too low and she uses the bathroom ALL THE TIME but we can handle that. lol. And sometimes she gets nauseated but we just call them our bad days and look forward to the next day and it usually is alot better.People in our town can't believe it when they see her because she looks so much better her cheeks are filling out and their not sunk in from all the weight loss. They usually have to look twice when they see her. But one thing never changed and that is her smile. Even when she was in so much pain she would still manage to smile when someone would come and see her. I have no doubt in my mind that if it were'nt for the surgery we would not have our Kristy now. She was looking and feeling as if she lost the battle. You know we were so afraid when she was sick, but as soon as we got to Minnesota the fear left us and we were so at ease with the whole idea of having this surgery. Kristy would say lets get the show on the road and never showed any fear at all.Usually when one of my kids would have any type of surgery I would be all tied up in knots and wouldn't be able to get myself together but for some reason I was very calm and so was the rest of the family. I'm sure the man upstairs had everything to do with that. But with everyone's prayers she is here to tell her story. She says she wouldn't change a thing. She would make the decision to have the surgery again if she had to go back.Well we hope everyone is having a good day and a painless day . And if there is anything we can do for anyone PLEASE let us know we would love to help if we can in any way. Thanks deedee
Guest guest
> Deedee, > > I have been wondering about Kristy. I am so happy to hear how well > she is doing. I too am still doing well. How are the wedding plans? > > Crystal Hi Crystal, glad to hear that you are also doing good. Kristy is beginning to look like she did before all this happened. The wedding plans are still looking like Dec. 2005 . There had been an accident with her future father in-law and that has put alot on hold right now. Three days after Kristy's surgery(21st of Feb.) we got a phone call that said that Richie's (her fiance) dad had a horse accident and he had a severe neck injury. He had broke his neck and he is still in the hospita now as we speek ,He is the football coach in our small town and missed very much right now.He took our boys to win the State Championship in 2004. He can feel his legs but not his arms and he can stand with someone helping him but he can't walk as of right now. A big change for him he is not used to not being able to do things for himself. He can't feed himself or scratch his nose for that matter. When he had the accident Richie was with Kristy in Minnesota and was torn between the two of them. His dad did not want him to leave Kristy but we made him .For Kristy was on the recovery side and he done all he could do there and we were there so she would not be alone so he needed to be with his dad.But the good news is that they gave him a date to come home from the hospital for good and that is in 2 weeks! He always helped Kristy when she was in and out of hospitals and when he couldn't see her he would call her to see how she was feeling. Now she will get to help him recover and show the grattitude that she has for everything he has done for her.We know that without everyone's prayers we probably wouldn't have Kristy with us right now. So now we need the prayers for his recovery .They have one thing in common for sure they are both fighters! And we know that with everyone's prayers things will get better. I didn't mean for this to go on and on and on so I will let you go for now. It is so good to hear from you . How is your ankle? And are you going to school now and if so how much longer do you have? Well , tell your parents hi for us . We will talk to you soon. Big hugs DeeDee Hubbard
Guest guest
Hi Deedee! I'm so glad that your daughter is doing so much better. I don't have kids myself, but I cannot imagine what it was like for you when she was sick. I hope she is doing well and getting stronger every day! Guest guest
DeeDee, It warms my heart to hear the continuing good news about Kristy. You must be so thankful and feel so blessed to have your daughter back, if you know what I mean. As one mother to another, both of whom have daughters, I know that if my had gone through the agony, pain, weight loss and declining health as your Kristy did, I would have done the same. The joy and relief you must feel now is surely overwhelming. I truly believe that Kristy did the best thing by not waiting any longer, not accepting other types of surgery with only temporary relief, and jumping on the wagon when she did. Send Kristy our love, and give yourself a hug, too! Please keep us updated periodically, as you have, to let us know how she's doing. It's always uplifting to hear success stories, and our newer members can always learn from these updates. Thanks, DeeDee, for passing along this good news. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
