Guest guest
Hi SamT, How my pain doctor gets around the " no refill " rule is that she writes me three hard copies for my oxycodone and indicates on the top of two: " do not dispense until " and then writes in a date for 30 days and 60 days after the appointment date (I get one filled immediately). That way it cannot be filled until the date is reached. I hand in all three copies to my pharmacist at once and he keeps them on file and once the date is reached he fills them for me automatically. This is good because the last prescription falls exactly on the 90 day cutoff (the scripts expire after 90 days) and if he wasn't on the ball it would expire and I would have no recourse as my pain clinic will not write replacement scripts for reasons like this. Walgreens use to abuse this policy so much so that I switched pharmacies to one that I trust and has treated me right. My understanding is that doing it this way satisfies all the federal and state laws as well as cuttiing down on unneeded clinic visits. I am not sure if Minnesota allows this or if your doctor is comfortable doing it this way but you may want to run it by you him. Less hassle and worries.
