Guest guest
I actually, finally, have this really weird doctor who has some interesting theories on pain and such. We had this really frank discussion about my narcotics (duragesic 75) and, while he believes that if we feed our psychic notions of pain that we are feeding it " candy " or rewarding it and will seek greater and greater levels of relief, he dispense without any difficulty. I am required to CALL in for my medications each month. My dear Sara picks up the script the next day and gets it filled. I prefer this tit for tat control over what I had to go through before. Calling numerous times with no assurance of getting a refill until, at the eleventh hour and the 59th minute, I would get the script and then have it refilled days late and after so much hassle that I was feeling like sh*t. It was horrible. Remember, these are Class II drugs which come just after Class I drugs which are those illegal drugs like heroine, smack and the like. While our Class II drugs are " controlled " substances, Class I are out and out in the marketplace to use as one wishes and, of course, the " addicts " and " drug abusers " use those. We get to be actual " users " of these self same Class I drugs in a different form. When you think about this, these doctors actually risk their licenses if they prescribe " too much. " To have someone who won't hassle you any more than a simple phone call (in my case, I am too disabled to go in each month, a concern discussed with this doctor on our first appointment with Sara with me, validating her " caregiver " status and her status as my wife) is a relief over what I had to go through before with a doctor too timid and scared to tell me he was uncomfortable with taking on this responsibility. Just my take on this. Now, Doctor, what " candy " can you offer me today? You are my " candy man " ! Anyse
